Same as yesterday.
Mad charge to the foot of the first climb, then, the peloton sit up.
I am at a loss..........

Is there any reason why this happens?

They were going absolutely flat out stopping many breaks from going, but once one gets a "gap" they just sit up and give them 10 minutes?

No seriously. I couldn't figure out what Astana were up to yesterday. Trying to wear down Saxo's climbing domis? Cos they ain't going to worry their rouleurs.

Now today. Hammer for 100kms, don't let a break go until the feed zone and sit up for the climbs?????

Look at them now. It's a crawl.

I haven't got a theory.

HArd to believe I heard this, but it was Bob Roll, so..............

He actually was having a go at talking about how Armstrong is Contador's mentor. How Armstrong taught him to race and to climb.

And, Phil popped in to say that after Armstrong has retired he thinks that he and Contador will be quite good friends.

They even kept straight faces through all of this.

Hey myra,

post it in the 'A Sherwen Howler' Thread which is back on the front page as i posted some stupid comments Sherwen said earlier tonight in it

"Will Lance deliver Levi to the podium? The most epic race ever!!"
Epic Fail....

Yea, the message revision on Versus today is a freaking RIOT. Its like they forgot who they are and what they have said.

Lance being Contador's mentor...what a freaking joke.

Versus' coverage is supposedly dumbed down because they are all about bringing new fans to the sport and educating them. There is no excuse for this level of dishonesty, however.

Obviously BPC writes the Versus script. Or else BPC is actually Bob Roll.

Versus

Just when LA sits up on the Bales climb today they will say how he is saving his energy so he can attack and win a stage....I laugh so hard it hurts. Phil and Paul should get a show on the comedy channel.

By the last stage they will tell us how LA invented the bicycle!

:D:D:D

Anyone thinking Sastre will give it a go again (if the gap doesn't grow too much, which seems doubtful).

+8:50 :(

can't you guys go 10 min without whining about LA / RS / VS ???

I could try, but, it is just so hammered into my head, it is all I can think about at 6:30 in the morning (here in CA)...I have the day off though so time for a few beers and some laughs!

I will be happy about Lance being gone next year.

While part of the annoyance on messageboards like this comes from people who are huge Lance fans saying useless stuff in praise of Lance... it seems like a bigger nuisance are those who dislike Lance commenting anytime anything positive is said.

Look... he's irrelevant this year. Has been for a week. There are perfectly good threads in the clinic to talk about his off the bike issues. But when someone over 20 minutes back goes out the back on a stage... it simply doesn't warrant three pages of comment in the race-day thread. When announcer make positive comments about him on TV... it's not worth 3 pages of comment either.

If he does something noteworthy in the race, then by all means talk about it. But enough is enough... he's not a contender... he's not worth the constant comments. Please... both sides... let it go.

I think the point was that despite his irrelevance, Versus is bending over backwards to keep him a part of the discussion, no matter how ridiculous.
