Lance on Nostaglia trip up front with the crowds cheering - must be nice for him,

Life is not just a film

Look closely........they're not particularly cheering for him. For such a "big name" he has really managed to fail to inspire an awful lot of people. Especially not the ones with the spanish flags :D

have the evnts of yesterday cast a pall over the proceedings or are they just sick of climbing hills when the stage doesn't end on the hill?

60km at the other end of it is a real disincentive. And I think fatigue is starting to take its toll too. Ratio of potential gain over very probable price paid isn't in favour of those who want to see fireworks today.

It's brilliant if you have saving yourself and want to get a last shot at something resembling a departure crown.

This just in:

Cancellara just caught up with the peloton on Col d'Aubisque and said we're neutralizing the stage. Thor Hushovd objects as he was getting ready to attack again.

this is so boring....peloton at 8:25
way to animate the race AC, AS, DM, SS....

guess they are all happy with their position.

Don't blame it on the riders, blame it on the course. A serious attack would just be plain stupid.

The Peloton is going to take the descent carefully so the gap is probably going to be 10mins+ at the bottom (eaux-bonnes). It should be enough for the last 50Ks especially since it's slightly downhill until the finish.

Who's the best sprinter in the escape group?

Saxo Bank: what a joke! if they really want this race they should have put two guys up the road on the breakaway and they should have at least tried to attack Astana. These guys are racing for podium!

pretty scenic road at the top

Horner's group has caught the lead group now.

It's 8 riders again.

No way can Armstrong ride away from the others in the descent to the finish line.

I say Cunego for the win.

What would be awesome is if the guy in 7th tries to launch an attack to bridge to his team-....oh never mind. (is he still in 7th, who cares?)

Since 1/2 the sprinters are still in the peloton, I guess the plan is to make them work after the last climb and it will be a sprint finish....who would have thought this stage was one for the sprinters?

THOR GOD OF THUNDER FOR THE WIN!
