Too many positive tests this year. Hopefully this guy can fix the problem so Astana can be 100% clean in 2015.

You must be a disciple of "his highness" Juan Antonio Samaranch.

Ricco bad. Nibali good.

I don't think I'm telling you anything new, but, for some the doping never stopped.

Can we have a Movistar's shameful legacy thread? How about a BMC/Och shameful legacy?

The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) announces that it has notified UCI Continental Team Astana Kazakh rider Victor Okishev of an Adverse Analytical Finding of Anabolic Androgenic Steroids in a sample collected at the Asian Cycling Championships on 29 May 2014.

The rider has the right to request and attend the analysis of the B sample.

In accordance with UCI Anti-doping Rules, the rider has been provisionally suspended until the adjudication of the affair.

At this stage of the procedure, the UCI will not comment any further.

It took 4 and a half month from he was tested to this announcement. Hadn't they analyzed the sample until now? Did they send it off for an IRMS analyzis?

The substances are listed as "Anabolic Androgenic Steroids", just like for Davidenok. Usually the substances are named.

And the UCI system of sending out statements on doping positives is as unpredictable as ever. There were no statement for World Tour rider Maxim Iglinkskiy, but continental tour rider Okishev gets one.

Politics man, politics. As I have said since the start, UCI is trying to crush Astana and Vino, no matter what. So bringing up 4 sleeping positive tests seems to do the trick. This will probably also destroy the Kazakh reputation completely. This is just dumb. Bring back Pat

+infinity.

Vino is refusing to dance the CIRC dance, so Cookson is stepping up the pressure. Not only is he doing Verbruggen ("I can make a positive") but changing the communication protocol for new positives for this one isolated case.

Too right. The usual anachronistic anger at positive tests from the clinic if it isn't a Brit/Sky rider/British Sky rider.

Always something wrong with the procedure/announcement, accusation of conspiracy against certain teams/riders, lack of proof, doubt cats on the results.

Yet most of you would sanction Team Sky merely on your own conviction that they are doping, no procedure or proof required. Predictably pathetic.

Why the hell are you trying to derail this thread to a Sky discussion? No one even mentioned it here. Astana will always be my favorite team, are they clean? Absolutly not. But the UCI cant spin Astana as a team of the new clean generation, simply because they have someone at the head of the team that has not made a big public confession from the 2007 scandal.

So bringing out 4 positives in one years only points to one thing, getting Vino and Astana out of the sport. And it is a shame because it will hurt the offers and oppertunites for young talents in Kazakhstan to get into the sport they love, and damage the reputation that is left for them. All of this is PR and UCI wanting to show a bit of power.

If you dont think that Belkin, Trek, Nettap, and every other pro team has sleeper posetives, i would call you naive. The reason they dont come up, is because the teams can be included in the so called "New generation, clean".

Rant over.

Astana cheques bounced.......

Astana could offer a full oil tanker and let it float around Lake Lugano and have UCI sell it when prices recovers.

Anyway I wouldn't mind taking Astana out, but it can't stop there. Others must go too.

I thought cycling went clean after 2006 guess somebody didn't get the memo. So I guess we'll start over in January of 2015 "The Year of the Clean Cyclist"
