They weren't going to wait for him this year, so I don't see it happening next year either.

It's no secret Froome desperately want the fifth Tour, so it remains to be seen if Thomas can beat him when he's not got the Giro in his legs or holding back for a Tour-Vuelta double attempt. I think Froome playing the good teammate and not making things difficult this year may have earned him some points for next July.

I dunno Thomas seems far too willing to be the good team mate. I think if they promise him the 1b role along with absolute Vuelta/Giro leadership he will be a good boy

Yep, could send G to TdF as Dawg support/number 2, then to Vuelta as number 1.

Maybe he's being told that he's joint leader beforehand again, only for that to be proven incorrect once they start the race.

GT is 32 years old and should focus on completing wins at Giro and Vuelta which finally would be greater achievement than his 2nd TdF win.

I am confident that Team SKY will make the best decisions for the
team and both SuperG and F-Dawg understand it's a team sport.

With six wins in the last seven years, plus two additional podiums,
I am confident that Team SKY will make the best decisions for the
team and both SuperG and F-Dawg understand it's a team sport.

But Team Sky should have their co-leader to avoid 2014's situation when one guy won TdF by accident.

I agree 100% and hope both SuperG and Froomey start the Tour
ready to do their utmost to achieve another victory for Team SKY.

He's got a book out that he wants to sell. I would put too much stock in the complaining. He smart enough to understand why Froome was prioritised....

....At least this year, maybe not this year. Both will have to show that they're the one to lead from March onwards.

Yep, could send G to TdF as Dawg support/number 2, then to Vuelta as number 1.

he doesn't like the Vuelta and he doesn't think he can do back to back grand tours

In the past G’s biggest weakness was steep climbs. He can handle everything else very well. So, the Giro and Tour suit him much more than the Vuelta it would seem. Would like to see him have a crack at it though. Maybe if he wins the Tour for a second time?

I bet bernal is happy right now. Undisputed giro leadership and he is one of the top 3 favourites. He doesn't even need the A team for support.

Poels is obviously good enough on his day but equally obviously can’t be relied on day after day. The rest of the wonderkids wouldn’t appear to be seasoned enough for that role yet.

Bernal is a freak. I find it hard to see Sky putting one of the other kids in as the final man in the Tour train for their first GT. It’s just too high risk, particularly if they are going with only six doms. Poels being the strongest of their established climbing domestiques is already a bit risky as the stage when he is most needed could easily be a stage where he is in the grupetto. If they have a kid as a top train guy and he blows up before the second week is over, they could end up having to rely on their fifth strongest climber to control GC rivals.

Poels was 6th in the Vuelta last year. Obviously he's good enough for the role and this year he was heavily affected by his PN crash in the Giro and the tour was overall just completely weird he was there in the first place.

I was thinking Poels might have been plan B for the Giro regardless, but he can go either way.

Plan B stagehunting isn't too bad for the Giro anyway, cause if Bernal doesn't podium Sky don't get a podium in that race.

I dont know if they'll send him to the Giro as a potential stagehunter, they already have Moscon and Sosa for that, so I assume that Poels will pobably ride the Tour as a domestique and the Vuelta as a protected rider.

That could be the idea.

I'd assume Froome will ride the Vuelta anyway.

Real question for me is if they want Bernal to ride the Vuelta as well.
