If there is a fracture, I imagine that G and Bernal will go to the Tour while Froome goes for another Vuelta win.

I really want to see the rivalry between Froome and G.

If it’s a serious pelvic fracture, then that could be season over.

Hope it is not too serious -- he has a lot to ride for at the Tour, and it is clearly something that matters a great deal to him.

If it’s true he’s broken a leg or his pelvis then that’s the end of the 5 tours for him, he won’t win it next year, he maybe sneak a vuelta or a giro win but he won’t win Le tour again

So... apparently the crash was because he needed to blow his nose.
Imagine missing your biggest goal because of something so *** stupid... :(

Seriously unlucky, sounds like a gust of wind caught the bike and he went straight into a wall. He’ll obviously be devastated, but it could have been even worse.

That's horrible news. I was really looking forward to the intramural battle at the TdF. I do hope it's not a career ender like poor Joseba Beloki.

Kinda reminds me of his crash in the reckon for the giro prologue last season.
It's not a secret I didn't want froome to win the tour but this surely isn't what I was hoping for. It's always sh*tty when something like this happens to a big champion like him :(

Horrible news- even if I'm not Froome's fan at all, it is awful to read about someone going through that kind of situation while being so close to the main event he's been preparing for -and worst of all- given the nature of his injury-to put a forced end to the entire season.

I hope he recovers & comes back next year.

On the "bright side" per say, I guess G & Bernal can surely make the Tour more interesting to watch .......

Unless it's a clean fracture it could be career ending at his age.

I am Brailsford and I pull Bernal from the TDF - He wouldn't be at 100% after his pre-giro crash - Better to build up his fitness and target GC at the Vuelta. Ineos have enough options to support Thomas at the TDF.

Bernal was flying on Strava KOMs during like the 2nd week of the Giro

Strava KOM's for me mean little in the scheme of things - Suisse will give us more info about Bernal's condition - We have to remember that Bernal is a second year rider and it's tough to win a GT,especially if you are not 100% - Thomas has enough support and i suspect his victory in the TDF was a fluke.

What Dave said about Froome sounded pretty severe, I hope he's able to fully recover from that.
I wonder if they now regret sending both Thomas and Bernal to the harder prep race that starts a week later, but with Thomas having a slow built up before the Tour and Bernal coming back from an injury peaking too early shouldn't be a problem.

The only reason to pull Bernal out is if Brailsford wants G to win the Tour without having somebody in the team stronger than him.

Actually I don't think G will repeat. But that's just my opinion. They were depending on Froome. This is really bad.
