Porte was racing for Trek last year. Carapaz was their best placed finisher in 13th.So . . . the weakest showing for Ineos/Sky in the TDF since ... ? They won stages last year and reached the podium.

Well Vingegaard was a big surprise. Carapaz looked better in the third week and his final TT was good. Bernal will be leading them next year and there should also be more MTFs which will suit him.Ineos did as well as they could expect on GC - They should have chased stage victories after the rest day - Their inflexibility can be an issue for them in GT's.
I 'm not criticising their current director sportifs, but it would understandable if they are feeling the impacts following loss of Portal. With the TDF concluding today, that's now 5 GT's in the last 11 months. To which you can add pretty much 1.5 x classic seasons. I think for a team that is as GT orientated as Ineos, that cumulative effort will have bitten hard, and combined with some bad luck around crashes, I think there are a few battered and knackered riders out there.
But completely agree with those who note that the absence of a Plan B doesn't help. It was obvious after the Alps that there was little prospect of winning the GC so surely there were opportunities to mix it up and attack a little, whilst still leaving Castroviejo and Geoghegan Hart to protect Carapaz.
Two Olympic champions so far.
Only one for Pinnarello though
Why is Tom Pidcock riding a BMC at the Olympics?
Pidcock's team sponsor Pinarello doesn't make a mountain bike so the Briton is riding an unbranded BMC. Here's what we know about his mountain bike set up ahead of the Olympic mountain bike racewww.bikeperfect.com
And very likely 3rd Gold with Ganna (definitely the safest bet at the start of OG). Really impressive results, with Giro win and Tour's podium place that is one of the best seasons for Sky/Ineos.Two Olympic champions so far.

And there is still La Vuelta... who knows what will happen there.
It’s an out and back course so he gets medals for each direction?I'm not betting against Ganna getting two golds just yet.
Haha, but he's also riding a track event. It’s an out and back course so he gets medals for each direction?
Looks like Uncle Dave knows where they're at, like he said while ago:
"We have won one (GT) and finished third in the other. We have won more stage races this year than we have ever won, so I’m not sure where any pessimism is coming from.”
Damn they were racking them up in 2018 with a sub Froome only winning 1 when from 2013-2017 he was at least 25% of the GC wins. They have won 6 stage races so far this year. In other years the number of stage races they have won:
2010: 2
2011: 5 (including the back-dated Vuelta win)
2012: 6
2013: 8
2014: 6
2015: 8
2016: 8
2017: 4
2018: 10
2019: 8
2020: 3

How many of those were WT wins? They got 5 of those this year, including a GT. That would be a better comparison. They have won 6 stage races so far this year. In other years the number of stage races they have won:

7 in 2018, including two GTs.How many of those were WT wins? They got 5 of those this year, including a GT. That would be a better comparison.
2 years were off on Netserk's list. How many of those were WT wins? They got 5 of those this year, including a GT. That would be a better comparison.
I didn’t either but I threw it in since they count it on their wiki page so for those that count it, they can add it.Thanks, I don't how I overlooked those three wins. (I don't consider Hammer Series a stage race)
Anyway, given that Brailsford didn't talk about WT stage races, it's not a better comparison (and it was still wrong). The point is that he clearly talks sh*t.How many of those were WT wins? They got 5 of those this year, including a GT. That would be a better comparison.
I think he exaggerated a little/made up a stat on the spot to make a point. That point being, any other team having the "terrible season" everybody thinks Ineos have been having, would be screaming about it from the rooftops for all to hear about how awesome they are.Anyway, given that Brailsford didn't talk about WT stage races, it's not a better comparison (and it was still wrong).
