Wiggins was one minute down on Nibali at the first time check, climbs 3 seconds better than Nibali so took 68 seconds on the 'flat' section, give or take a 34 [with a flat section of 18 kilometres] minute effort. Perhaps even more when you take into account there was another section of downhilling in that effort.

Including that mechanical - lets say 20 seconds - and his again descending like a scared little kid he would have put Nibali on two and a half minutes, minimum. On a course that definitely suited Nibali, who must have descended like a Nibali, too bad the RAI cameras had only eye for Wiggo.

What is interesting is Wiggins only took 7 seconds on Dowsett on the 'flat' part.

Yes good post.

But true to Wiggins strong suit. He was crushing everyone last year in the TT.

Wiggins still won't be able to ride away from the others on the climbs. He'll do very well I expect.

That is to say I reserve the right to do my job in the way I consider best, and am not put off by those convinced they know better.

I have the right after earning jack**** for 15 years to finally cash in.

Just read the past few pages and laughed.

I've been out on the bike this morning, watching the Giro this afternoon. Why don't some of you guys find another to sport to follow if this one is so rotten to the core??

Why aren't you feeding sick children?

When will you be working at the local soup kitchen.

You're not doing enough.

I predict Wiggins and Sky will destroy everyone in the coming weeks. I also predict that this may not happen.
Whichever turns out to be true, it will be proof of doping, or not doping, or proof of doping in the past but not so much now, or proof of doping just as much now but not as much as the others, or something like that.

I will be back in a few weeks, to point out how accurate my prediction was.
Probably on a Tuesday.

And that in plain English now? You're on a cycling forum and yet you have so much disdain for the sport. Your choice, just a little skewed!

Walsh on twitter really does seem to have become Sky's la florecita.

It hasn't crossed your mind that maybe he hasn't seen anything to be suspicious about? He's there with them, he has a track record on calling out dopers in real life, not just behind anonymity on a forum, or has he suddenly turned into Phil Liggett because he isn't telling you what you want to hear?

I can offer some insight here: not a Colombian revolt but the team plan. Dave Brailsford doesn't mind making tough (sensible) calls.

Well if he can get insight into the great mind of Brailsford like this..

I dont know what your talking about.

My comment was not about doping but about how Walsh is posting 50 sky fanboy tweets a day.

Wiggins is struggling. But I thought he was on the best doping programme?

He didnt win the Tour de France last year by 6 minutes from a guy who a couple of years ago he couldn't get within 3 hours of?

Riis.

From zero to hero in three years, and the way he rode alongside the group, looked at them and then rode off like he was on a Sunday club ride was farcical even then.

cf Wiggins 2006-2009 (3 years).

His final TT in last year's tour and "peak" from Feb to August was equally as farcical.

Silly me, I thought you'd been implying all along that Sky doped and Walsh was somehow turning a blind eye, my mistake :D

This is really funny. You are comparing Riis, a previously average domestique who showed no pedigree with a multiple world/ Olympic champion who changed emphasis and shape for the road? And comparing him with Riis's performance in 96 when he rode off in the big ring against people who were doped themselves? Funny stuff. And it's quite sad that you went trawling back through my posts. Didn't come up with much did you? Lol...

I think he fancies himself as an investigative journalist,
and he believes that investigative journalists do their
research on internet forums. The poor fellow is more
to be pitied than scorned.

Huh? Lost his long-time coach? Rod Ellingworth coached Wiggins to 4th at the TdF in 2009. Who are you talking about?

No he didn't.

Shane Sutton has coached him for the past few years but as with all successful coaches at the Sky / BC set-up, Dave B tries to get rid once they get a certain amount of success. See Simon Jones / Matt Parker / Dan Hunt as examples.

AFAIK, Rod has never coached Brad. He looks after Cav and has looked after some of the 'classics' riders but that hasn't worked out so well.
