I know I am late to this thread, but I thought the last 10 pages were about finding out Brads postcode so Hog could send him a card.Mrs John Murphy said:You need to polish your sentence structure. There is a flicker of something intelligible there but I can't see it.
As Hog has pointed out - this is all about Wiggins apologists re-writing history. So Wiggins now becomes a working class boy who pulled himself up from the gutter, this dedication and hard work is why he is clean. It's about establishing the narrative. Just like someone else established a narrative about over-coming cancer and the laser like focus it gave him having stared death in the face and how having cheated death he would never dope.
thehog said:I would agree. In isolation. But theres more.
Racing against Lance was a "myth" one week then not. And in his previous autobiography the entire forward is dedicated to Lance and now not. Tax haven. Not a tax haven. Anti-drugs. Smoking. Grupetto one year, climbing HC mountains next.
Something doesn't add up about the guy.
Do guys from Kilburn wear £1200 Paul Smith jackets to dinner?
Please stop talking about something you have evidently no knowledge and even less understanding of. Areas of London merge into one another, boundaries shift over the years and what one might consider a "posh" area now is anything but a mere 5 or 10 years ago.thehog said:You're trying to hard. You're doing internet searches. It doesn't matter where his grandparents lived.
Put simply he grew up in Maida Vale which is not Kilburn. He has always stated he is from Maida Vale. Its only recently he is started saying he was from Kilburn.
Since you love him so much and want him to be a working class hero find me an interview from say 2-3 years ago where he says he's from Kilbrun.
Go on! I dare ya!
Wiggins is a toff.
Ok, so all you want me to say is that:thehog said:I would agree. In isolation. But theres more.

These lies that never stop that you speak of...are they yours?

Name any area of this great city and I can show you both ends of the social spectrum. To call someone from that part of Maida Vale/Kilburn High Road a toff is demonstrative of your complete and utter ignorance and close-mindedness.
Where are you from? Are you absolutely consistent in describing it? I'd wager not.
Once your posts were of interest and merited reading. Now you've revealed yourself to be blinkered and incapable of reasoned argument. Shame on you!
Bernie's eyesore said:You're obviously a bit thick so I'll explain it to you. Wiggins came from a poor background when he was a CHILD. He is now an ADULT and he is very well off. He did not have expensive jackets when he was a child. Do you understand this?
thehog said:Cambridge (town and gown). South London. North London finished up in Notting Hill.
How's that wager going?
thehog said:I agree which is why he pretends he's from Kilburn. He's trying to pretend he's Jack the lad when he is lives in Spain and wear's £1200 jackets.
Basically he is cycling's version of JoLo and Jenny from the Block - "Used to have a little, now I gotta lot. Don't look at the rocks I got, cos I'm Wiggo from the block".
Give me a break!

An interesting dozen pages or so. I don't give a toot where he is from, but he has wheeled out the Mockney Kilburn bit out a bit much this year. Doesn't mean anything. But what the hell, depending on who I am talking to my place of birth may change (to suit their specific knowledge of locations....place stays the same but I get more vague with it - village becomes town becomes city becomes county)

Barely any idea of accuracy, nor the literacy to express it.thehog said:I'm not sure what the postcode theroy is but growing up I was a big fan of the band East 17 and loved the movie SW9. People are proud of their postcodes when you're born and raised in London. Its a badge of honor. What Americans never understand about Londoners is our postcode is to the front door not just an area. That's why we know where people are from - postcode. There's a big difference between Madia Vale and Kilburn. Porbably having a chance and not having a chance in life. Wiggins is not Kilburn. Far from it. Born with a spoon in his mouth. He's not street. Long way away from being street. Aw'right?
Your family must be very proud of you.thehog said:Cambridge (town and gown).
