You need to polish your sentence structure. There is a flicker of something intelligible there but I can't see it.

As Hog has pointed out - this is all about Wiggins apologists re-writing history. So Wiggins now becomes a working class boy who pulled himself up from the gutter, this dedication and hard work is why he is clean. It's about establishing the narrative. Just like someone else established a narrative about over-coming cancer and the laser like focus it gave him having stared death in the face and how having cheated death he would never dope.
I know I am late to this thread, but I thought the last 10 pages were about finding out Brads postcode so Hog could send him a card.

Wiggins history is well known, and is what it is.
I have not seen the blue above argument being made about whether he is clean or not in relation to class (but I have seen it done on Nationality).

Brad was born in Belgium, his Mother returned to the UK and ended up living or a short time in Kilburn with her family. They ended up living down the road.
It was certainly a tough time and great credit to them to do well - it has absolutely no bearing on whether he his clean or not.

I would agree. In isolation. But theres more.

Racing against Lance was a "myth" one week then not. And in his previous autobiography the entire forward is dedicated to Lance and now not. Tax haven. Not a tax haven. Anti-drugs. Smoking. Grupetto one year, climbing HC mountains next.

Something doesn't add up about the guy.

Do guys from Kilburn wear £1200 Paul Smith jackets to dinner?

You're obviously a bit thick so I'll explain it to you. Wiggins came from a poor background when he was a CHILD. He is now an ADULT and he is very well off. He did not have expensive jackets when he was a child. Do you understand this?

You're trying to hard. You're doing internet searches. It doesn't matter where his grandparents lived.

Put simply he grew up in Maida Vale which is not Kilburn. He has always stated he is from Maida Vale. Its only recently he is started saying he was from Kilburn.

Since you love him so much and want him to be a working class hero find me an interview from say 2-3 years ago where he says he's from Kilbrun.

Go on! I dare ya!

Wiggins is a toff.
Please stop talking about something you have evidently no knowledge and even less understanding of. Areas of London merge into one another, boundaries shift over the years and what one might consider a "posh" area now is anything but a mere 5 or 10 years ago.

Name any area of this great city and I can show you both ends of the social spectrum. To call someone from that part of Maida Vale/Kilburn High Road a toff is demonstrative of your complete and utter ignorance and close-mindedness.

Where are you from? Are you absolutely consistent in describing it? I'd wager not.

Once your posts were of interest and merited reading. Now you've revealed yourself to be blinkered and incapable of reasoned argument. Shame on you!

Ok, so all you want me to say is that:

Lol, he was an idiot and made a stupid slip up with the Lance comment.

And of course tonnes of people admired Lance. It was the thing to do back in those days. Did he know Lance was doping back then? I would assume not.

Anti drugs, smoking? I know some incredibly good people who have been hooked on smoking and can not give up. Bringing parallels with smoking is totally irrelevant... smoking is a whole different ball game.

Tax Haven comments can also be explained..his grupetto riding.. he was a track rider ffs...You wear expensive clothes when you get rich..

One thing I will give you, some of the things he comes out with are a bit thick and his PR is not all great at times. He tries to come across well, but sometimes the whole thing just gets mangled a tad..

But then again if you have enough time you could pick holes in the actions of even the most righteous. Until there is some actual tangible evidence..

Wiggins power output on last TT

I hate to spoil a good rehash of irrelevant details, but The Guardian is publishing extracts from Wiggins forthcoming auto biography, and in today's excerpt, he talks about his power output during the last TdF TT:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2012/nov/06/bradely-wiggins-tour-de-france-2012

"The power I've chosen is over 450 watts so on the flat sections I'm looking at holding 450–460 watts, and whenever the road ramps up slightly I'm taking it up to about 470, 480, 490, but again trying not to go over 500 watts, and likewise then, when it was slightly downhill, I'm coming back down to 430.

I can sustain 450 watts for an hour, so obviously the first 20 minutes is not difficult. "

It doesn't mean a lot to me, but I know how some of you guys love pick apart the stats.....I'm off to bed myself.

Cambridge (town and gown). South London. North London finished up in Notting Hill.

How's that wager going?

I agree which is why he pretends he's from Kilburn. He's trying to pretend he's Jack the lad when he is lives in Spain and wear's £1200 jackets.

Basically he is cycling's version of JoLo and Jenny from the Block - "Used to have a little, now I gotta lot. Don't look at the rocks I got, cos I'm Wiggo from the block".

Give me a break!

Soooo you're naming Cambridge....and Notting Hill. Fan of Hugh Grant are we?

Well at least he's not from Sarf of the river down Clarm and Saint Reetam way. Kilburn was until quite recently the Irish part of London. When I lived on the borders of Paddington & Notting Hill it was very working class and West Indian mix. Rachmann was the main landlord. Now it's nearly all gentrified.
One thing I can guarantee is that his books are ghostwritten and he probably doesn't proof them himself.

Well, he lives in Eccleston, which is Lancashire. Similar climate to Spain I'll grant you ;)

An interesting dozen pages or so. I don't give a toot where he is from, but he has wheeled out the Mockney Kilburn bit out a bit much this year. Doesn't mean anything. But what the hell, depending on who I am talking to my place of birth may change (to suit their specific knowledge of locations....place stays the same but I get more vague with it - village becomes town becomes city becomes county)

Think Hog may be confusing Millar and Wiggins now, and perhaps Cav...and apparently I don't know where they live

He has a house in Spain as well! That's two houses. But just a boy from Kilburn our JoLo.

Judging by this the Cambridge era if your life was more town than gown.

I'm not sure what the postcode theroy is but growing up I was a big fan of the band East 17 and loved the movie SW9. People are proud of their postcodes when you're born and raised in London. Its a badge of honor. What Americans never understand about Londoners is our postcode is to the front door not just an area. That's why we know where people are from - postcode. There's a big difference between Madia Vale and Kilburn. Porbably having a chance and not having a chance in life. Wiggins is not Kilburn. Far from it. Born with a spoon in his mouth. He's not street. Long way away from being street. Aw'right?
Barely any idea of accuracy, nor the literacy to express it.
