when Britain dominated cycling gold medals in Beijing olympics, we already know there is a program going on. I guess it took them several years to successfully modify and transplant the program from indoor cycling to road race.

I was giving them the benefit of the doubt, on the basis that they were getting a bit better but everyone else cut back and got a lot worse.

No longer any doubt, they are just taking the plss

p.s. i have a british passport

Feast your eyes on the Dawg: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwzfWal4kE4&sns=em

Watch him ride away from a peloton.

Then at 2:01 watch him taunt breakaway riders and then break them in half!

This, my friends, is comedy gold at it finest.

I present, The Dawg Show! on two wheels!

Yes, of course, it's easier to climb in cooler conditions.

When I do FTP intervals on home trainer at 320 watts, always amused to think I'm only putting out 320 watts of work--BUT 1300 watts of heat.

So when it's -15 outside and I have the window wide OPEN for cooling and the heating off, the temperature promptly falls inside when I finish the trainer session and CLOSE the window--it doesn't rise. No, it falls really fast.

No longer 1300 watts of home heating. ;)

BMC drove most of the climb then Evans controlled it at his pace until the sprint.

Only a 2 minute or so turnaround for Rogers is pretty good.

Great post! Agree, the finest dawg show I've seen in many a day.
Did you see the poodle Peraud close that gap while TGV TJV could do nuth'in?

Also loved the French commentary: "le Kenyan blanc".
Don't think there were any racist connotations there.

Just a fine show all round.

Magnifique!

*Really hoping Peraud will be top dawg in the summer. Will look resplendent in the polka dot jersey, poodle and all.

**Also really liked the FroomeDawg's backwards glasses: trying "the look" backwards. Insulting, maybe?

I'm glad Froome's performances are only a little bit better than the 2011 Vuelta.

They aren't better - I said consistent. His 2011 Vuelta performance was almost an hour, so one would expect a higher output over a shorter duration. Also, CI isn't a 3 week stage race.

My point is only that what we're seeing isn't new from him - a lot of faux outrage over 2013 performances that are consistent with ones many others have taken to be indicative of a cleaner peloton.

Froomes 2013 is consistent with 2012 and Vuelta 2011?

Thats like saying Lances 2005 is consistent with his 2004, or Indurains 1993 was consistent with his 1991, or Contador's 2009 consistent with his 2007.

nice catch of his fatal logic error

there's nothing wrong with the logic - if you followed the argument. These VAM's, power outputs, etc., that we've seen for the last few years are taken by many as indicative of a cleaner peloton. And, there's some displaced outrage here regarding 2013 performances, as though yet another quantum leap has taken place, which is not consistent with the absolute performances.

it is always fun to revisit history, still amazed how SKY transformed a mediocre rider

Where's the video of Froome falling off his TT bike and hitting an official?

Meh. It's like following Armstrong explanations.

The flaw in your summary is skipping over the ugly fact Sky's grand tour squad goes to the front and destroys the peloton.

Let's pick some numbers out of thin air. If GC contenders slowed down some number like 10% over a few years. Sky's Grand Tour squad somehow goes faster crushing all slower Grand Tour contenders. "The peloton" is cleaner, but what is Sky's performance?

I agree, 2011 would have been enough for most people to make up their minds (one way or the other). Any subsequent information doesn't really provide a reason to change the original conclusion.

Exactly. British Cycling is filthy, and they have surely been doping for so long.

Funny thing though is Team Sky / Wiggins are not really winning the British public over, who largely just don't care. Unlike USA going nuts for Armstromg and the TDF.

Not really, the popularity of Armstrong is mainly because of his cancer story and later on cancer foundation stuff. Most people here don't give a f..k about Tour or cycling in general. Sadly, we are all about American football, while nobody else in the world seem to care about NFL.

British cycling now is like Chinese women team almost sweeping the gold medals in 1994 Rome swimming championship. Later some of those people have been found guilty. When you see a county dominate in a non-technical sports, you always have to be very very suspicious.

max, u reckon if Cancellara, or Phinney was one year older, Sky would have won any gold in the pursuit. If other countries like germany had their best athletes on the track instead of the road, they would have creamed u brits.

2008, would clancy wiggins thomas and manning with burke as 5th, beaten germany with bartko (younger than manning), ciolek, greipel, gretsch (martin/degenkolb).

no chance u guys beat the germans. and if australia had their best, they would have pantsed the poms too.
