Since Mr Walsh is being discussed here he seems to have upset Dowsett

I think it was about his comments (Dowsetts) about Lance
You have to wonder if he'd gone with that angle if Dowsett was still with Sky. Somehow I doubt it.

Edit: This is what he wrote btw

I can understand the disappointment on the biggest racing day of his life - but, basically, Dowsett shouldn't have said it, and Walsh was entitled to comment on it. It was at best, damn foolish, at worst, invidious.

As for Millar's post, it's an interesting turn of phrase, but hard to parse it further without further illumination.

Does Dowsett not get a chance to say that actually he always hated Lance, like wiggins and bailsford did?

How strange and it also points to Walsh appearing pro Sky because the biggest hypocrite on Armstrong has to be Wiggins, the guy who he has being praising the last 2 days.

Yet in that piece he highlights that Dowsett was on Team Sky.

Again, in the piece it says Dowsett would "later change his view".

Which Walsh already addressed with Wiggins when he interviewed him.

He gave wiggins a chance to explain himself. He has not given that chance to dowsett.

Did walsh in any of his articles write about wiggins - "wiggins 32, who was Lance Armstrong's most fanatical defender during his comeback"

or anything of the like?

And there he is today giving Wiggins false praise...

Accuse me of bias if you wish but gutsy performance by Wiggins to hang in as he did. ...

Wiggins not showing any guts in his descending at all. Opposite. Then the current best TTer in the world with the strongest team in world getting back on in the flat stretches aint gutsy. Might be gutsy for neo pros in their 1st GT from a wildcard team but not the biggest team in the world.

It either shows complete lack understanding racing or undeserved praise from Walsh. Walsh has been going to races as a Journalist since early 80's. I think it is the latter.

He didn't have to, as he included that Dowsett later changed his remarks.
As for Wiggins, he covered that in their interview. One of the first things he talked to him about.

Do you think Wiggins has been descending well in this race?
If your answer is "no" then getting back on and sticking there on the final descent is noteworthy.

What you said about being on the biggest team in the world is completely irrelevant and odd. It has nothing to do with ones descending ability.

why's he bothering tweeting all that fawning gibberish

Or maybe he wants to make it clear that anything he says is to be taken with a pinch of salt.

David - I got an autograph of SIR Brad, jippieeeeeeee - Walsh aside, it looks like the inner chimp man is needed on Team Sky.

An utter disgrace.

edit: good to see Vaughters is on it as well.

I don't get why you're being so apologetic. Walsh wrote a very harsh comment on a young rider who just took the biggest win of his career. A very-likely-to-be-clean young rider, considering his condition. At the same time he's fawning over the far dodgier Wiggins and his epic ride against the elements. It's a double standard, one that very much hurts his credibility, considering the team he's currently rooming with are the ones getting a pass.

Just read the past few pages and laughed.

I've been out on the bike this morning, watching the Giro this afternoon. Why don't some of you guys find another to sport to follow if this one is so rotten to the core??

I went for a ride this morning, then followed the finish of the Giro this afternoon.

Katusha won the stage (Ekimov as GM, now there is instant credibility), Nibali in pink (anyone spot Ferarri's camper near the Astana bus), Scarponi in the top 5 of GC and Di Luca finished with the pink jersey group to top things off.

All in all, a great day for cycling!

I am not being in the slightest bit apologetic. I am calling it as I see it.

You have called Walshs comments on Dowsett "very harsh" (to me they were entirely accurate) and say that DW saying BW did well to stick on the decent as "fawning" (again, pretty accurate).
And you also categorize that one rider is dodger than another, again that's your view - your perfectly entitled to it but don't expect anyone to have to agree with it.

Dowsett needed to be called out on that. Absolutely. I'm pretty sure we called him out here for what he said at the time.

But it can't come from someone who then fails to call out Wiggins in the same way. Yes, he asked Wiggins about it, but without follow-up questions. It was soft. He acted just as Wiggins's opportunity to change the narrative in his favour.

Imagine if Ekimov were to say Bruyneel is dodgy and should go. Is it the truth? Of course. Would it be alright for *Ekimov* to say it? No way.
