Actually I am completely aware of the MR history and of the accusations, rather than history, against JTL.
My issue was purely as I said that there were people on thread using both of these arguments and they seemed to be contradictory. My own belief is that the Rodgers test is probably contamination, simply because when he already has a contract for next year it seems a bizarre time to try to use a weightloss/lean muscle product.
I think it likely that he was doping in the past and that he may have doped at Sky, but I do not accept the best season=doping equation.
With JTL there is every chance that with his history he simply could not sustain the training effort required to continue at the level he was at. I say this as a former athlete who had to knock it on the head after getting a post viral illness. His health history is genuine. It's not like he continued to ride and rode poorly whilst the issues were at their worst.
He has talent, he stopped through illness. He recovered, he rode consistently and moved up a level as a result. That is not in itself a reason for Sky not to hire him.
It is also completely possible that he is a druggie who has cheated his way to a contract with a World Tour team. However I would say that this is no reflection on Sky, since clearly if he was doping for Het Var and Mediterranean then as a Conti rider there would be very little chance of proving it. The only way to stop this would be to prevent any World Tour team from employing anybody who hasn't already spent a year at Pro Conti level. However anybody who is simply saying he had an amazing 2012 therefor it must be drugs is ignoring his history. All the posts about CQ points etc are facile and show an eagerness int fingers rather than look at the detail behind individual cases.
