Yeah because Froome was contending the win at the Vuelta, he didn't stand a chance against Contador. Tell me in M-SR, RVV or P-R did it look at any point when it mattered they were contending for victory?

Wiggo finishing, top-10 at Paris-Roubaix, did very well at the Ronde.
Gerraint Thomas had a great spring and just got 4th at the WC TT.
Ian stannard won Het Niewsblad.

I'd argue this was their best Spring ever.

Their grand tour program has been an unexplainable mess all year until Froomie's second place at the Vuelta.

Not Paris roubaix. Hanging onto top 10 while never remotely in contention with the favourites =/ top 10. And I know you'll come back with - different interpretations of the word to contend. Fair enough. For me and many though contending is actually fighting for the win.

The only riding Wiggins did in the last 10k was 400 meters from 8.8k to 8.4k after that he was at the back of the group and no higher than 7th in line. Not what I would call contending more "happy to be there". Thomas was 'tail-end Charlie' from 10k to 5.3k when he left the back and went to the front(DeBacker and him were at the front) and when he did the gap to Terpstra increased from 8 seconds to 20 seconds.

Why would Wiggins put in more effort then he needs to if he has Thomas in there? You could say that Terpstra was not a contender in that race. Until he was.

Seems a moot question because even if you finish 3rd in a sprint (i.e. Swift in MSR) you can't be in contention according to you.

So (using that same logic) during the Tour or the Vuelta, at any point, did you never think Froome was in contention to win?
