Brailsford, boldly going forward because he can't find reverse...

The more we have achieved the more we have been put in a position of leadership in the sport more generally. We welcome the extra pressure and responsibility that comes with that. Because at the same time as meeting the main goal of winning bike races, we will continue to play a leadership role in moving the great sport of cycling forward to a brighter future - innovating, riding clean and winning clean.

...tonight I say, we must move forward, not backward; upward, not forward; and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!

and grave digging

And after my brief stint as Santa Claus at the team Christmas party I am now back in full on work mode making sure we do everything we need to do to prepare and get us ready to meet more big challenges in the coming season. The better we do in one year, the more we want to achieve the next. That is the only way we know and it is what makes us just as excited today as when the whole Team Sky journey began

You mean to say Santa Claus is not real? That's another thing Sky has ruined....

Methinks Kwia will easily fill LRP's boots and become Froome's last man standing.
G will fill LRP's boots and Kwiat will fill G's boots. Landa will be nowhere like Nieve.

Nieve has had the best 2 years of his career (per CQ ranking) since joining Sky. I'm wary of Landa because he did make a big jump forward last year but also proved the Giro wasn't a one off with his end of season form. He should be very good with Sky, the question is how good.

Good enough to reduce the peloton at the Tour down to Froome, Thomas, Contador, Nibali and Quintana. He'll get dropped when Froome launches though.

Those compounds are good guesses. Combine those with a Keto diet, and slow base training...

I've been looking into the keto et al diets and do wonder about the veracity of that argument.

At 250W you burn around 900 cal / hour. No way are you replenishing that.

I think elite level athletes are already fat adapted.

For plebs and average joes, yes a good gain, but elite level athletes?

Hmmmm...

Well, at least keto diets suppress appetite...

Nevertheless a slightly hypocaloric regimen and low-carb can also be useful to the rider in the pre-racing season period in order to lose excess body fat by forcing the use of lipids as an energy source and establishing a ketosis, which also has suppressive effects on appetite, helping to sustain the caloric restriction.

More likely it will be just Froome and Thomas. &#128528

I must admit, I just can't stop laughing about the fact that we can discuss Landa in a Team Sky thread without it being off topic or trolling. :D

However, didn't Brailsford state that it would be Landa for the Giro, and Froome for the TdF? They want to win both, and I didn't think Landa was going to be part of the Tour squad.

I suppose that's one way to apply marginal gains though. You want to win the Giro with high-tech, cutting-edge science, nutrition and training? Then hire the guy who nearly won it last year, and whose performance garnered the most attention. What will they think of next?

If the Tour is going HC, the points and timing may be changed to the extent that teams reorganise their rosters.

It was said with a hint of sarcasm, to be clear. :)

That said, for an endurance athlete used to eating carbs/sugars/etc to fuel activity, a keto diet for 6 weeks would actually yield significant fat loss.
The real question is how do you do this while INCREASING power over long periods. That is the thing that Sky- and only Sky- have managed to do.

Full. Natty. Bruh.

this has been my position.

Kennaugh rides the World Team Pursuit champs at 71kg, within 4 months, rides the TdF at 65. #NOTNORMAL.

always been the greatest hole in their PR talking point, about a caloric deficit diet, how the heck do they peak and maintain their power or increase their FTP trying to peak for Alpe d'Huez. just not credible. incredulous. #notnormal. abnormal. paradox. Sky theory

may as well hire Roberto Heras if he is the only potential threat in July.

Or sick Verbruggen onto Mayo.

sick as verb. Like sick dog, sick him. not to be confused with Cuddles "dont stand on my dog or I'll cut your head off" roid rage

Try watching Gardeccia Val di Fassa stage in Giro 2011 to see what a rider Nieve was. He's nowhere near that level since he joined Sky

What a stage that was, and it's one of my first memories of the Giro!
However, Nieve has matched his Euskatel form at Sky, though I wouldn't say he's been better. he's remained quite consistent throughout his career.
