I don't think Cancellara's interest are incompatible with AC's (or any GT contender's) aspiration. You can build a quality classics team and GT teams that co-exist quite well.

Which Bjarne showed with his team in 2009 and 2010.
I talked about the future, not about the past, I don't disagree with your statements quoted. Definitely you could build a team for both types of races, as already evidenced numerous times.
But let's face it, to have both AC and FC in a team, tons of $$$$ are needed and then you still have the rest of the current SAXOFF team which consists mostly of (sorry 4give me) ZEROES...
If Riis is able to build a balanced and strong Saxo Team like in previous years, fine, but it will be very hard.
All I can say is that I sincerely hope that Fäbu will make his homework before joining a new team and make sure that he has two to three strong guys of the calibre of Gallopin, Terpstra or Breschel and another two or three guys of the calibre of Bennatti 2012, Rast or Stuey.
But then again, if he ever should have the form he had this spring 2012 day of Flanders, he doesn't need anybody else. Just a few guys with food and water at the right places. He was in his best ever form ever, would have destroyed everybody, the entire peloton in Flanders and Roubaix. This is so hard and frustrating. Because nobody gives a ****. It's gone and it's over and the winner list shows other names. That's the cruel and hard side of life. But it goes on!
