Just tuning in and reading the Cance-Tinkoff stuff on the last few pages... I sincerely hope, he DOES NOT join Riis' banksters team ;) !!!

Riis is great and Fäbu and Riis would make a great team, but the problem is that the focus would probably still be on AC winning LeTour and other GC's.

Cancellara finally needs urgently a TEAM BUILT AROUND HIM, FOR HIM, not AC and not the Schlecksters. He has now a year or two to collect another few big wins and needs to do this, before the new youngs (Sagan, etc.) step up to the plate...

And he definitely needs to move back to Specialized S-WORKS and ZIPP, away from the lame Trek/Bontrager stuff ;)
Completely agree.

"ownership"?

I thought Riis owns Riis cycling? but seems not the case... so Riis owns maybe 50% and Saxo and Tinkoff 25% each? does anybody know?

[ownership of Riis cycling, not sponsorship contributions]

thanks!

I assume ownership of sponsor rights.

Riis still owns Riis Cycling.

Obviously people who can finish top 10 on their own can help their captain for a long time. I kinda thought that was implicit.

It is, just like your choosing of ignoring the things that are inconvenient to your argument is an implicit way to to concede.

Good luck with finding a team where there isn't a GC rider,

Eh? Your "argument" was that Cancellara had practically no support and I showed you why that was wrong. Not sure that I argued anything else.

But ok, I concede if it makes you feel better.

I don't think Cancellara's interest are incompatible with AC's (or any GT contender's) aspiration. You can build a quality classics team and GT teams that co-exist quite well.

Yet you said he should stay with Frandy because they need him
"Hopefully this doesn't happen. Fabu needs a team/lots of great doms for the flat dedicated to him. Even staying with the Schlecks would be better as he'll be needed mainly in July."

Best option: "Fabu needs a team/lots of great doms for the flat dedicated to him." - means he needs to get away and have a team built around him.
Second best option: "Even staying with the Schlecks would be better as he'll be needed mainly in July."

Contador+Cancellara together = probably something like the budget of FdJ or Cofidis.

Then something like 10 good dedicated helpers for both blocks who would also not be cheap.

And then 12 riders to fill up the spots.

Long story short, a lot of money is needed.

Oh I'm sorry I misread that last sentence, I thought you meant that he'll be needed in July, in other words the Schlecks need him really badly in July, and I didn't grasp that you meant "primarily in July" so that he'll have the rest of the year to race for himself.

Apparently this Russian has a lot of money.

Which Bjarne showed with his team in 2009 and 2010.
When he had Matti who wanted to ride for himself and the Schlecks for GC who race at 100% only for four weeks per year. Ok Frank raced competitively in more races, but still not in Nibali/Cuddles league. And that great team didn't have any sprinters/sprinter trains.

I'm not a fan of Cancellara and Contador on the same team, but it CAN work. It certainly worked very well wit Fabian and a GC rider at the TdF 2008. Cancellara did some great work to help Sastre win the Tour, notably at the Hautacam and Alpe d'Huez stages. And Fabian still had great success on his own during other parts of the season (winning Sanremo, Tirenno, TdS, Olympic TT etc.).

Riis comments on Fuglsang and the possibility of getting other of the riders who left in 2010 back.

He says that it is only natural that he is interested in Jakob. He also says that he put the things that happened in 2010 behind him and that if some of the rider wants back he is open for it and will see if he has room and if they will fit in. Then he adds that Andy probably isnt the first in line (that one can be interpreted in different way obviously)

@bambula Tinkov had a blog on Eurosport.ru. He has always criticized Alberto. If I recall correctly, he called him a doper.

So will you now have instant dislike to Saxobank Tinkoff Bank ? :D
