Teams & Riders Team Visma - Lease a Bike

So, Danish media are referring to the signing of Lemmen as "completing the roster". Is it, though? Have they - Visma - declared that "this is it, no more riders for us"?
That would put them at 27 riders, and with the... Hessmann-situation that seems a bit optimistic...

It doesn't say that he's the final recruitment in the press release, so for now it's just a rumour.

So here's next year's story already (remember where you read it first!)
https://cyclinguptodate.com/cycling...ut-the-tour-is-jumbo-visma-willing-to-give-in-

WvA wants to do the Olympics ... ok, but he also wants to do the Giro and not the Tour as apparently the Tour's last week is a bit too tough for WvA. Ok? ... So Jumbo will be without Roglic and WvA (and van Hooydonck). And then there was the rumours about Kuss doing the Giro. So after the "Three amigos" at the Vuelta, now there's only two and WvA does not want to be an "Amigo".
Oh well, with Ma Vingegaard's preparation skills I'm sure it'll all go swimmingly regardless. (and with Jacco Verhaeren of course)

"Riding the whole Tour aß a domestique and taking It easy on the mountain stages in the 3rd week?
That doesn't work for me, Brother!"

They have other solutions. Kuss will do the Tour and vuelta.

Zeeman:
"We want to send our young talents to Giro d'Italia next year. Top 10 would be great, but targetting the overall victory wouldn't be realistic."

So I think we can log in Kooij for the giro with this statement. Also Kuss and Vingegaard will not go, otherwise the "Top 10 would be great, but targetting the overall victory wouldn't be realistic." would be a bit wired..

So also not WVA then?

This question I think is still open with this statement. Even if Van Aert goes, target the overall victory with him is in my eyes unrealistic, but a top 10 of course is possible.
He is still under 30, so still a young guy.. ;)

Nahh, personally I don´t think that they will send van Aert to the giro. I think Gazetta wrote a bit wishful thinking in this context.

Young riders could mean: Kooij, Tulett, Gloag, Jorgenson, van Dijke, or even Staune-Mittet or Hagenes.

According to Renaud Breban on Twitter Zeeman said in a podcast (Open Vizier) that 7 riders are already selected for the Giro.

Van Aert
Valter
Gloag
Jorgenson
Tulett
Staune-Mittet
Hagenes

And then one open spot, presumably for a "donkey". Affini or Tratnik perhaps? Or Bouwman, but that leaves the team without a designated work horse.

This means no Kooij in the Giro, which to me is a massive surprise. Going for Vingegaard in the Tour and then have Vingegaard/Kuss in the Vuelta, is there really space for Kooij (and 1-2 guys to help him?) in any of these GT line ups? I doubt it.

If no one doubles Giro-Tour I guess the Tour team will be:
Vingegaard
Kuss
Benoot
Van Baarle
Kruiswijk
Kelderman
Laporte
Tratnik / Affini (the one not doing the Giro)

If this is true definitely a big surprise. Didn´t Kooij only extended, because they said to him that they will send him to a GT in 2024?

But does Van Aert want to go to the Giro to leadout Kooij at all sprint stages?

It worked for MVP at the Tour because he went into the Tour without (any real) own ambitions other than using the Tour to find top form for WC. I think WVA will have a lot of ambitions for himself if he's going for the Giro, either as a GC bid (unrealistic?) or to win as many stages as possible.

This is complete bollocks. Does this "journalist" Breban not know that we can check his statement simply by listening to the podcast he cites as a source?

Merijn Zeeman said that they'll probably let their younger talents ride the Giro to gain experience. They have no ambitions of winning it, and top-10 overall might already be a good result. That's all, he hasn't mentioned any names, no Van Aert, no Valter, no Santa Claus, nobody.

Cyclingnews have filled in these names, purely to speculate. This kind of copy-paste journalism, mostly from people who do not even speak the language of the original source, is getting rather tiresome.
