According to Renaud Breban on Twitter Zeeman said in a podcast (Open Vizier) that 7 riders are already selected for the Giro.

Van Aert
Valter
Gloag
Jorgenson
Tulett
Staune-Mittet
Hagenes

And then one open spot, presumably for a "donkey". Affini or Tratnik perhaps? Or Bouwman, but that leaves the team without a designated work horse.
A bit strange that they're not giving Kelderman leadership in the Giro. Would be a good mentor to JSM & co. Or maybe Wilco is just loving his new domestique role too much, considering he thought winning the Tour with Vingegaard was the 'best result of his career' or words to that effect.

Vingegaard needs some good climbers in the Tour, to make the race super hard, specially in the mountain stages, and i think not everything was perfect for team Jumbo on this year Tour de france. They clearly missed one more good climber in the team, instead of taking benoot or another roleur.
There's some stages and climbs that jumbo should had endure more the race, and sometimes they were with a low rythm to not put kuss and kelderman soon in the work.

I think theorically, the plan that Jumbo did on tourmalet was correct, but they didn’t the things perfectly. They should had endure more the race on aspin, and then on tourmalet they should had endure more the race until the last 4 Km. Van hooydonck and van baarle were working in the tourmalet, until the last 4 Km, and when that happens, the rythm is not high, so pogacar was fresh in the last 4 km of tourmalet.

The stage of morzine should also had be done with more speed on col de la ramaz to not let pogacar be fresh on joux plane, but it was van aert doing most of the climb, doing 5.7/5.8 w/kg on ramaz during 35 minutes. This is fine for pogacar, he was then fresh on joux plane.

Pogacar was in trouble on col de marie blanque, because the stage was full gas because of the dangerous breakaway, and because Jumbo was going thermonuclear on marie blanque.

Vingegaard could also make pogacar being in trouble on granon and hautacam, because the previous climbs, they were going full gas. They beat galibier's record, and they did 6.2 w/kg on spandelles. Vingegaard is better in endurance, he can continue to make 6.35 w/kg on hautacam even after doing 6.2 w/kg on spandelles, pogacar has more trouble in keeping is better numbers after a previous full speed climb, but they couldn't make that on joux plane and on tourmalet. They didn’t do things in the right way, because they only had kuss and kelderman to endure the race in the climbs.

Its a bit of a long shot but I am starting to think that Jumbo is thinking about sending Kooij to the Tour.

This could be the Tour team:
Vingegård
Kuss
Kelderman
Benoot
Kooij
Laporte
Van Baarle
Tratnik

If they don't bring Kooij, then Kruijswijk will likely be in the Tour.

This means no Kooij in the Giro, which to me is a massive surprise. Going for Vingegaard in the Tour and then have Vingegaard/Kuss in the Vuelta, is there really space for Kooij (and 1-2 guys to help him?) in any of these GT line ups? I doubt it.

If no one doubles Giro-Tour I guess the Tour team will be:
Vingegaard
Kuss
Benoot
Van Baarle
Kruiswijk
Kelderman
Laporte
Tratnik / Affini (the one not doing the Giro)
This is just straight made up news by Breban. All Zeeman said was something along the lines of giving the youngsters a chance. Never did he say this guy goes, this guy won't. He didn't make a list, he didn't have some pre-selection.

If Kruijswijk in June shows that he's back in 2021 form, he should go.

Vingegaard
Kuss
Kelderman
Kruijswijk
Jorgenson
Tratnik
Van Baarle
Laporte
I like how it's now more or less assumed that Van Aert won't go to the Tour, when nobody from the team has said anything about it. It's possible, of course, but so far the only thing we know is Merijn Zeeman's recent comments about the young guys going to the Giro. Which would suggest that they're certainly not building a Giro team around Van Aert.

I don't believe Kruijswijk will comeback to his best, and benoot is a overrated climber.
Kruijswijk has been written off a thousand times, and he always returns to a good level. Benoot I would personally replace by Gesink, who controlled a couple of stages in the Vuelta pretty much on his own and will ride his final year. Benoot is not a natural domestique, Gesink has long ago resigned himself to his new role.
