Who is this Bart Lemmen dude? He's got pretty decent results this year for a backup domestique (2nd in tour of Norway, 10th in UAE tour, 5th tour down under, 2nd KOM Romandia) but he's 28 and never started a grand tour. It said he only turned pro in 2023. It all seems a bit strange.

If Kuss really did say this he would go from one of my most disliked riders to the very top. What a puss.
I assume you watched the race. Landa pretty much saved the GC for Kuss after Roglic attacked. Sepp also said he owed Landa "beers for life."

My guess is if what he said is true, your dislike of Kuss is probably how the majority of the peloton viewed Roglic and to a lesser degree Vingo. Shitting on your own teammate, especially one that sacrificed multiple times in order for you to win multiple previous grand tours isn't a good look.

He was in the Dutch military thats why. Switched to cycling in 2022, did well at NC (dutch road champs) and went to Pro Conti at human powered health, they folded and Visma saw potential and picked him up.

My own guess is 99% of the peloton have their own problems & wouldn't even dream of attempting to figure out the right & wrongs of what went down inside Jumbo's team in last year's Vuelta.

Maybe Landa did save Kuss with an act of selfless chivalry. If that's the case, good for him. But he was also one of Jumbo's rivals on the road that day on the Angliru (having gotten his Bahrain team to pace the climb hard) so it probably suited him to mess with them a little when he saw what was happening.

Visma certainly want to reward and honor him. His 2024 season until now was super, super strong, he was extremely impressive. I think this rider has lots of potential, and we probably only saw a small part of what he is capable of.

Certainly someone to follow closely in the future.

Don't worry, they have Keldermerckx.

Very weird to send lemen as he didn't do any altitude training or even proper GT preparations, and yet apparently he is first reserve. No bouwmnan or Kooj???
They lost Kuss a climber so want to replace him with a climber. If Laporte had to drop out perhaps they would bring Kooij. Perhaps the fact they are taking a climber and not Kooij suggest that Vingegaard is actually going to have a chance of winning. They might take Kooij to hedge their bets and give them a better chance of stage wins.

How the tables have turned. I was appalled by the GT domination of Visma last year but this year, they're a shambles. UAE are going full turbo leading up to the race. It would be very amusing if the Visma underdogs manage to beat the UAE superpower. I don't think anyone will win but I expect Visma will prevail.
Let's be real: no other team has a hope in hell.

Ah I see.

The blurred picture silently comes into clear patterns.

So, this is all intentional by Visma, just motivating knockles on the shoulders.

"No no, Jonas, you misunderstood - you reeally have to show the world who is the strongest. The Combloux massacre doesn't count"

I see several Netflix blockbuster titles in the making.
"A Yellow Team 2024: Ride to Survive - or Stay Home Safe?"

Or if the unthinkable happens, a fishing factory boy yet again climbing the beer crates in Paris to the top:
"The Overcoming - Part 2"
[Legal Age: +21]

The plot thickens.
