Do they have a rider who could win the Giro Donne? Because if they do, I think they could become the first team (organisation) to win all three Giri in a season.

A few years ago, I would have said Vos, but I'm not so sure these days.
No they don't. Well they do actually, Riejanne Markus might be able to do it, but she's not doing the Giro Donne.

Yeah this buying up of the whole sports world is starting to get weird.
It's hard to show yourself in front of others with billions from oil while you own sand and concrete. They love European style, luxury, sport, history so they think they can buy it and own it. And at the same time influence to culture to have it their way (back to sand).

Why does this article look like an advertisement for Neon City? Wielerflits articles are usually short and then this one comes. Super long and letting a guy who literally works there explain how "good" Neon city is and how positive the things they do could be.

It comes off like them paying Wielerflits to post this *** (wouldn't be the first time Wielerflits takes money from those oil states to post some "tourist" stuff), not them actually going to sponsor the team.

Of course they've been paid. Kerckhoffs can be bought, he'll write anything. And then you add legitimacy by adding a Plugge quote and picture. He's skilled at this, used to do the same at the Telegraaf.

A future sponsor of Jumbo should at the very least be able to prove that it's an independent company with no connection to the state. We can't totally exclude despotic nations, but we can prevent their horrible governments from gaining control over European sports.

They are already in control. At least I don't know which company UAE or Bahrain are supposed to represent?

Those two are. Since they came (and Gazprom), there has been an increasing awareness regarding Arab sportswashing and anti-democratic values. It must be stopped.

I wouldn't mind if that meant that European state-owned firms would also be excluded from sponsoring.

That seems a bit unfair, doesn't it? I have no idea if any other potential sponsors will throw their name in the mix, but otherwise it would be strange for Plugge to have moral qualms when arguably their biggest rival can freely and unashamedly accept Middle Eastern money... because apparently a few years ago human rights were unimportant.

I'd rather some of that oil money is spent on cycling than whatever else.

At some point, you need to draw a line - otherwise it's hard to change things.

Until recently, it was thought that undemocratic nations would improve if we let them in - that proved to be wrong in many ways.
It's easy to take the moral high ground when you don't have to keep a business running, with employees who depend on you. So far it's just a purely hypothetical case, since Plugge hadn't even heard of their interest so how serious is it really. But if he has no other choice, of course he'll accept the money.
