It's a bit weird if they let Nordhagen do one when they wouldn't let Uijtdebroeks do one.
It has never been said as far as I've read that Uijtdebroeks was denied riding a GT. It's that he wanted to ride for GC rather than being a domestique. He probably would have ridden one last season as well if he hadn't still had issues with his nerve injury.

I imagine something will happen and the Vuelta lineup is in flux. I'd have Yates as nominal Vuelta leader, tbh but I guess you have to give Matteo a shot at GC at some point...

You might be right, that's just what I read, but it might have been manipulated or taken out of context.

The danes must slowly but surely be getting on Visma nerves. All that media chatter.
Jonas is their champion, so it's understandable, but some reality check seems needed for danish media.

Makes a change from all comments about them no longer bring a proper Dutch team anymore.

Would expect that to be the Vuelta, maybe with Jorgenson and Kuss as a bit of a triple 'let's see what happens' approach. Although Jorgenson might do the full Canada experience.
Nordhagen (if they let him ride a GC next year) doesn´t get more then a pure domestique role in my opinion. His results do not justify yet a free role in a GT in a team like Visma. The first guy, who would deserve this after Vingegaard, Jorgenson and S.Yates would be Tulett in my opinion..

So what's the news about Hagenes? Read that he was "seriously ill" during the summer and hasn't raced since. Is he part of the training camp currently?

Surprising news on Simon Yates. This means that there will be more salary budget for 2027 to get a new "big" rider on board. To be honest I´ve no one in mind that could fit.

For 2026 they lost 2 GC riders in Cian and S. Yates. In terms of GC they only have Jorgenson and Vingegaard (Kuss) left. Quit good but not a broad level of GC riders. Visma now need some riders to step up immediately to fill the short term and medium term result gaps. Even with Simon Yates this was necessary but with the immediate retirement its even more "urgent". Whom of the riders could step up? In terms of GC Nordhagen, Piganzoli and Tulett come to my mind. In terms of one day races Barre, Hagenes and Zingle come to my mind. But if I double read the names and think about the potential to be a top rider I only believe in Nordhagen. So Visma is more than ever dependent on Vingegaard, Jorgenson, van Aert and Brennan. They can still bring a very good season to Visma but the burden is on even less shoulders now. Hopefully a rider which I have not in mind right now can make a big step forward. And for 2027 maybe a Devo rider or an external transfer is bringing in some new strong shoulders that can carry a part of the success burden.

He's a consistent, solid hand but my abiding memory of him in 2025 will be getting beat by Jannis Peter in the Czech Tour in amusing fashion. Lower Top 10s in GC seem to be his ceiling, which is still great, but the replacement for Yates will need to be someone who can drop a nuke.

They should wait for Hindley, maybe even try and buy him out this year, Bora isn't big enough for everyone.

It's a bit strange to say this about someone who won the Giro for them, but are Visma really going to miss Yates? I doubt it. What they signed him for, to be to Vingegaard what his brother Adam is to Pogacar, never really worked out that way.

What Wout can bring is now in question, too. That'll add pressure to Jorgenson to fulfill duties in the Tour. As we've noted that kind of load can ruin a rider's options for other races to an extent. Brennan will be stunning but again; you need pack-controlling power on all terrains even for sprint finishes. What "big" rider would want to sign on to this team with the uncertainties when serious GT guys have so many options. It'll be interesting to see how the early season pans out but the pressure is on JV more than ever.
