Shocking TT performance on a course that suited him down to the ground. I will fall over if BMC re-sign him when his current contract expires.

Too bad the teams are unable to fire workers the same way an employer can fire an underperforming employee at any time.

He deserves to be fired, immediately!

After 10 stages he is 7:42 down on GC. Once Quintana and Nibali start attacking again in the mountains the gap will probably double. His own domestique Quinziato beat him in the TT as did Landa who is still recovering from his injuries. Even Quintana beat him. It's a shame that Dennis pulled out injured as he would have ended up team leader in the Giro and his TT would have been pretty good. Dennis isn't going to learn anything riding for TJVG.

TJVG legs just stop working after about 7 or 8 days.

I do think he eased up towards the end of the TT though when he realised he wasn't going anywhere. Think he'll be in the break tomorrow.

RIP GT career Teejay.

Go Ben Hermans

Yes, BMC should direct their support to Hermans now. TJVG seems to have given up.

He did not give up. He just does not have the legs and he is probably very mentally weak and cant handle the pressure of being the team leader.

After all, his best results area from years when he was not a leader and in 2012 when he got Top5, Cadel was still the designated leader so there was no pressure on TJ to deliver.

BMC probably wonders why they are paying Van Garderen so much

They are counting the days till his contract ends and looking for a replacement I bet. Wiser heads would pay him out early and say thanks but no thanks. They have Hermans and Dennis but they need another experienced competitive GT rider in the mentor role and someone who can actually compete for the podium. Those are not easy to find as the podium is usually dominated by the same bunch of riders. Dennis will probably ride more with Porte but Porte only ever rides one GT per year. Money is always an issue as well.

He was the leader in 2014.

There was no pressure on him in 2014. He finished over 11 minutes behind Nibali, in a race where Froome and Contador both dropped.

This is on the way to become the sister thread of Betancur's

Not really. TJ does not have any fans and he is trying hard, or at least pretending that he is trying hard. Fatancur on the other hand ...
