each time nadal gets into the net, you see what a mediocre tennis talent he actually is. zero touch.

5.19 especially for perfect net feel.

he didn't really have to 'work' the ball there. Just stick his racket behind it.
when he does have to 'work' the ball, it generally doesn't look very natural, imo.
of course guys like Jim Courier and Agassi didn't look very natural at the net either.
but imo even the likes of djoko, murray, and delpo show more natural talent than nadal.

i have weak spot for french tennis players. leconte, pioline, now gasquet.
premium talents. i can't think of one spanish player who came or comes close to the skills of those three.

Tom English with an ok article on doping in tennis and John omerta McEnroe.

http://www.scotsman.com/news/tom-english-andy-murray-s-words-on-doping-important-1-3081915

Sad thing though, as this article again exemplifies, is that Federer and Murray, for their 'vocalness' on doping issues, are already considered as having a strong anti-doping stance.
it doesn't take much to make a good impression in a world where skepsis is virtually non-existent.

Everytime i watch a match now, i wonder what sniper and cycle chic would say..i know i spend too much time here.
Where have i lined up with cycle chick in this discussion?

i've said i believe there is matchfixing (hard to deny, isn't it), but certainly not to the extent cycle chick thinks there is. I've also said i think cycle chick is seeing ghosts, at least in this particular respect.

then I've said players will indeed throw points and games from time to time, it's a known phenomenon and has nothing to do with (the lack of) fair play or betting. At least, if we define "throwing" as simply not giving a 100% in a rally, and typically taking more risk in your shot, because you want to keep the point short as you expect to loose the game or set anyway.
all in order to save energy for a next game or set. The frequency of such throwing has gone down dramatically though, in the last years, as players simply seem to be able to have the energy to go for every single point these days. Effects of increased oxygen doping are visible there.

again though, cycle chick's speculation about throwing (and how she relates it to matchfixing) is imo rather baseless. Of course, fixed matches will show "throwing" along cycle chick's definition (i.e. deliberately missing). But then i believe, in line with hitch and others, that the number of fixed matches at slams is negligible.

In sum, Cycle Chick's attempt to explain every fart on court as an example of throwing is just as far off as the attempt to deny any throwing.
Hence my plea to take this thread back to its original purpose: that of being a reference thread for doping in tennis.

Soderling - now Wawrinka

Wawrinka - Norman - Soderling

Soderling "Warned" for Missing Doping Test

Christopher Rochus on DOPING in tennis..

Soderling and implies that they may be serving a suspension for doping: " Watch Robin Soderling ... He won the tournament in Bastad in 2011 and since then he no longer plays tennis. It is supposedly seriously ill while I'm sure he was unbeatable at that time. We can not overlook the fact that it is very suspicious! It reached the highest level of his career and the day after, it says I can not play tennis ... So Magnus Norman is now with Wawrinka who is playing the 'best tennis I have ever seen' - Greg Rusedski

nb. I accused Wawrinka of throwing a set and Djokovic - that's it !!

Cycle Chic, what is you opinion of tennis players using robotic arms? The technology is there. And, they could easily recharge it during breaks.

I find it very suspicious when someone wears a long sleeve top. It is like they are trying to hide something. Also the use of sweatbands seems dodgy. I suspect the controls are hidden under them.

I think there was a problem with the circuitry yesterday which caused Warwinka's 'injury timeout', would explain why it went on for a while as it would take a bit of time to fix.

How about you all continue to post in this thread about Nadal's knees - that's really informative and news breaking thought.

I,ll go to a tennis forum where they know what they are talking about :)

If Zebedee posts here I am sure you will all berate him also...the only poster who knows what he's talking about.

i appreciate your posts here. when i see your name i usually check the post.
and your posts are most of the times quite informative and curious-making.

but you were also a bit off a couple of times, meaning your evidence was rather thin (e.g. wrt the two tennis players talking after the match, or djoker throwing the wimbledon final), and when that was pointed out to you, you failed to acknowledge it. It sometimes helps your credibility if you grant (or 'throw' if you will ;)) a point to your opponents.

As I recalll cycle chic used to have a signature that said "its chic not chick".

Therefore, unless I missed something, we don't actually know if the poster is female.

I missed that. he/she/it is acting like a girl in threatening to leave tho.
She is quite happy to troll the cycling related threads then throw his/her toys out the pram concerning tennis when her/its hero is called out.

It will be interesting to see where Nadal goes after the US Open. The usual pattern has been for his form to dip (cycling down?) and for him to either miss the ATP world tour finals or perform weakly.

One of the great myths about Nadal is that his knees can't tolerate hard courts (he's unbeaten and won 4 Masters events on it this year) so it may well be this rears it's head again to explain his post-US Open antics.
