Copy and paste the Donati interview into Google Translate. See the Fab Farn comments for the link.

Donati gives a deadly answer on Nadal whose name the interviewer cites as constantly cropping up in insider circles, particularly for his capacity to return to high level after absences. Donati answers obliquely but states the incredulity of explaining away modern muscle mass (compared to athletes of old) through weight training alone. He then says everyone knows that there are tennis names on the Fuentes list. To me, that's as near as Donati could go without the final proof.

He lumps the ITF in with other sports federations interested only in holding tight the interests of its athletes and not wanting to know of the real, mucky business of hunting cheats. As such, its antidoping system doesn't work.

To hell with dieting, I just need to make sure I don't wear any more sleeveless shirts.

"This is Nadal's first event on clay since last year, a welcome change after losing last month on hardcourts in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open, and being beaten in the first round in Qatar on hardcourts.

Nadal looks slimmer this season, though when asked about it in Rio he said his weight was unchanged -- about 85-86.5 kilograms (188-190 pounds). He said perhaps he seems smaller because he has not been wearing sleeveless shirts when he plays."

Of course Nadal will deny that his weight has changed. He has had some dramatic swings in weight throughout his career. A number of players have noted it.

He clearly went on something to prepare for the clay season. He is noticeably thinner than he was just a few weeks ago, when he played in Australia. Look at his face here in Rio (sunken cheeks, sunken eyes, stretched out skin on his neck).

Clay is a more "defensive" surface than the other surfaces. Leanness helps your game on clay. Maybe he has been using clen ? I am sure that the ITF has assured uncle Toni that Rafa won't be tested while training in Majorca.

Here is a thread at one of the tennis fanboy forums, where they discuss whether Nadal is muscular or not.

i think it is a combination of lipotropin, aicar, and gw501516

he has seen how lean Djokavic got.

And if you have a close look at Federer, I think he is about 5lbs leaner. Look in face too. And look at the legs, the calves look more pronounced, and when they take off their shirts no homo at sweaty match change of ends... they look leaner. unscientific yes. but I aint claiming it to be scientific. it may be a confirmation bias. it may be all natural.

oh, the Canadian Serbian 6'7" tall player, he was much leaner. The Mohammed Ali Frenchman, that guy, he even got leander. suspicious they all got leaner at the same time.

but two Serbians, Anna Ivanovic, she almost looked anorexic compared to the other players, and she always looked like a soft puppy fat physique even when she won the Aus Open and went to number 1 about 7 years ago.

I believe that you are talking about Milos Raonic, and Tsonga.

As for Raonic, he has been working with Rafael Nadal's doping doctor in Spain for some time.

It is something he has learnt from the Spaniards...
Blanco began working with Raonic in October 2010 and the Canadian soon made the decision to relocate to Barcelona and surround himself with Toni Estalella as a physical trainer and Dr. Angel Ruiz Cotorro as his doctor. [It was] a change that took him a giant step forwards, declared Blanco.

Come now, there's nothing suspicious about working with Cotorro. All top athletes need a doctor that specializes in the completion of doping control. :D

i meant, the two were the "early adopters", p'raps before even Wigans started leaning up and dropping the weight at Garmin. (about 4 years back now for Anna, and cant remember for Nole, but definitely multiple years before other players started to drop lbs)

actually, I cant remember when Djokavic won his first Aus Open when Federer cried (which to me showed his true colours). I cant remember if the 6'3" Joker was carrying around another 3 or so lbs, because it would be so marginal for the eye to discern a few lbs gain or loss, but this was about 6 or 7 years back when he won his first Aus Open.

It was against Nadal when Fed cried at the Aus open. Djokovic first won Aus open in 2008 but didn't win another slam until the same tournament in 2011.

Djokovic was very inconsistent between 2008 - 2011. Then since 2011 extremely consistent.

He went from cramping in the 4th round of slams and withdrawing to outlasting Nadal in 6 hours. Seems legit.

Exactly right. This is why Djokovic is so much more unbelievable than some of these other guys. He's the Chris Froome of tennis.

Maybe fitness wise yes but he was an exceptional technical player before then he just didn't have amazing endurance and recovery like he does now.

indeed.

and we remember circa 2002 this was the knock on Federer, endurance. he was already raved about for his ability.

if you hit on such weasel words as "fittest guy in tennis" "hardest worker", to me, this is code for "doping". Cos if others are doping, but you are seen as fitter, this is like Lance Armstrong genetics and so much harder of a worker than his contemporaries.

lets name them

Lendl
Chang
Courier
Muster
Rafter
Nadal
Djokavic

fittest guy = surely doping your honour
