Anyone taking Petacchi? I've always just figured that it's too old to risk, but looking again maybe not... I have a lack of consistent sprinters, might need to fix it.

I have him on my shortlist but i doubt whether i would include him. If Scarponi goes to the TDF i doubt he will get many sprint opportunities. Then there is also the age factor/ the fact more sprinters are spread out on different teams.

He's a pretty cheap buy considering what he can do. I clearly missed him. I should have gotten a closer look at him earlier. I don't see how I can fit him into my team now.

13 teams have been sent in now.

BUT.

Out of those 13, 3 team's value exceeded 7500 points.
Out of those 13, I had to edit an additional 7 because of misspellings, numbers before the riders names or just something simple as a space after the name.

I just spent 45 minutes putting the teams into the spreadsheet - something which should optimally just take 10 minutes.

If I have to do this for every team that is sent in this year it will take forever.

Please double check your team before you send it in! Make sure that your team's value doesn't exceed 7500 points. Make sure that every single riders name is spelled EXACTLY as it is on cqranking.com - I don't want to have to search for several riders names. Make sure that there aren't a space after each riders name.

From now on I'm not gonna edit anything.
I'm sorry if it sounds harsh but if the team you send in doesn't meet the requirements it will just be rejected - even though I use a lot of time on this game, I'm don't want to use all of my spare time :)

Fair enough, but imo you can just inform the player that the team he sent is inappropriate. Let him (her) correct it himself. I sent my team and think i did it correct (copying names from CQ) but mistakes occurs sometimes and i would like to know if i did something wrong and correct it before it is rejected :)

Oh yeah, I of course will send back a PM saying that the team sent in isn't satisfactory :)

I messed up my point count, but I'll make sure I cut and paste names from CQ when I resubmit.

is it worth producing a pro forma, or if timmy (i think) reposts the spreadsheet he was using to build his 2012 team. so we as players put in the names and it brings up the cq score. this should ensure that the names and points are correct before they are submitted.

hoping my team can perfrom as well as last year, trying not to get away from a successful formula last year by over thinking things. lots of cheap riders or riders from my team last year i'd like to get in - likely to have more regrets in 2012 with riders doing well that didnt make the final cut.

I think most people are using a windows spreadsheet? well I am.- its pretty easy to copy and paste stuff over and change things from the cq site and then send it off.

Beats the back of an envelope like I tried last year.

Hugo, is it easy for you to copy/paste from a direct PM? I think that's how it was done last year, like if I wanted to pick Boonen it'd say:

BOONEN Tom

Is that easy to get over into a spreadsheet? Or am I supposed to attach something... don't know if you can even do that here...

No no, that's perfect!

It's just that if someone submits a team and has any spelling mistakes it gives me some extra work to do. Obviously if someone typed "BOONAN Tom" I can easily fix that, but I don't know every single rider :)

Also quite a few teams have been submitted with a "space" after each name so I have to click on each name and press "delete" to delete this space before the spreadsheet automatically updates.

There are quite a few minor mistakes in many of the submitted teams, so I'm just urging everyone to double check their teams before they send them in :)

crystal clear. I'll try to avoid those mistakes, as soon as I get my incredibly long shortlist down to manageable size.

Could the "space" be something that happens automatically when coping from a spreadsheet? I guess that many have done what I did and just copied from Excel and pasted straight into the PM. If this creates problems for HK hopefully someone knows an easy workaround.

Any Excell wizard out there that knows how I can count how many times a name occours over various sheets?

Would be fun to publish a list that shows how many times all riders have been picked when we start the new season. So far I have been doing it manually but that's just with like 4 teams - it takes quite some work when there are 100 teams :D

Update

It appears as though the 2012 season starts off with Vuelta de Chile which starts January 5 2012. This means that the deadline for submitting teams is January 4 2012 at 23:59 CET.

Remember that the final CQ update should be out December 31 2011 so you'll have a few days from that date untill the deadline for submitting teams.

However, I encourage everyone to send in their teams as soon as it's ready because my inbox will get flooded if everyone decides to send in their team January 4 and if my inbox is full I won't receive your team. I of course will try to delete the messages but I cannot guarantee anything.

Update

I have edited post 3 of this thread to now contain the participants so far. If you have already sent in your team and your name isn't listed here please send me a message.

Sensible advice, if I send my team in tonight (99.5% complete :) ) could I make minor changes via PM if someone gets busted, no contract etc?

I have no idea what this does :) If I push CTRL + F it just makes a word bold...

It is normally a keyboard shortcut for Edit>Find, but as it seems not to be working on your computer, you'll have to do it the old fashioned way ;)

Here is what you can find on ctrl+f on microsoft office site :
CTRL+F
Displays the Find and Replace dialog box, with the Find tab selected.
SHIFT+F5 also displays this tab, while SHIFT+F4 repeats the last Find action.
CTRL+SHIFT+F opens the Format Cells dialog box with the Font tab selected.

I think he wants an actual spread sheet repersenting this data tho, rather then using finder constantly.

anyway for helping hk I suggest using CQ ranking spread sheet and coping the correct names (last name first) as that is what HK uses in his forumla.

--

@hk I will look into some forumlas which provide some cool stats for everyone (when I get a chance at work).

The only thing I can think of is copying all the teams into one column, then sort by ascending or descending, then you can count the riders that appear quite a few times.
