It seems like Igor Anton has gloriously reached  his pre-2010 level... What a terrible investment of 600 CQ points

I am having the same problem. Have both Anton and Basso:eek:
Out of my higher value picks only Gerrans is doing well.
In contrast the young guns Moser, Quintana, Slagter are on a roll.

He does seem to be improving though. Hopefully he can get a stage win and a decent result in the GC. He's not on the same level as AC, Froome, Rodriguez or Valverde, but he's getting closer to the last two.

Well, even this kind of Anton should score ~200-350 points from this Vuelta (I was hoping for ~400-500:rolleyes::D). Maybe he'll even manage to repeat his 2011 result in further races, but it's not quite what he was expected to get at the end of year.

PS: I guess the run for the first place in this game will be almost (99%) over, after the nearest update. We're gonna have an about 1000 points difference (by eye) between Skidmark and TeoSheva and considering the fact that most of current top-scorers got their results thanks to very similar sets of very profitable riders (like Boonen, Lulu, Moser, Rogers, Demare, Henao, Durbridge…) it must be an epic fluke if someone other than Skidmark wins this game.

Not sure anymore, but last year I was near the top10 or in it. This year it's not going to happen, but I just picked riders by checking the cqranking.com riders ranking from top till bottom and preferring dutch riders.

I'm sure a lot people put a lot more thought to it ;)

It has been a very long time since I've been posting updates but now I'm back and with quite a long update this time.

Even though a lot of points were distributed this week not much has happened in the top 10, which seems to have stabilized. Only MADRAZO and Luke Schmid swap positions.
One thing is worth noticing though: skidmark scores the most point this week and increases his lead by quite a bit as he scores more than 500 points more than 2nd placed TeoSheva and more than 400 points more than Kvinto in 3rd place.

Our leader is now 1112 points clear of 2nd placed TeoSheva who is just 1 point away from having doubled his 7493 team cost.
It certainly looks like a victory for skidmark now! Will he last the distance?

Top 10

1 (1) skidmark - 16097
2 (2) TeoSheva - 14985
3 (3) Kvinto - 14819
4 (4) EvansIsTheBest - 14637
5 (5) Nyssinator - 14523
6 (6) Armchair cyclist - 14094
7 (7) FF'Wilco - 14023
8 (10) MADRAZO - 13568
9 (9) mc_mountain - 13482
10 (8) Luke Schmid - 13476

Ignoring skidmark, those who did well this week are mainly to be found in the lower part of the leaderboard. Last years last place finisher (if we ignore Wiggins_fan who were bound to finish last) Rocksteady finally gets something going as he scores 890 points - enough to earn him a second place at on the "top 5 of the week"-list.

This week's high scorers

1. skidmark - 975
2. Rocksteady - 890
3. just some guy - 720
4. La Florecita - 698
5. ansimi - 689

Next up is this week's high jumpers, and it is with regret that I look at this list because at the bottom I find myself dropping 10 places this week. Actually, I simply swap places with Sasquatch who is the winner of this award this week as he jumps from 41st to 31st, moving up 10 positions.

This week's high jumpers

1. Sasquatch +10
2. The Aluminium Monster +7
3. nobilis +6
3. adamski101 +6
5. just some guy +5
5. La Florecita +5
5. sublimit +5
5. gustienordic +5

Finally, let's have a look at the bottom 10 where only 6 teams still haven't turned a profit.

Bottom 10

121 (120) Kato777 - 7849
122 (122) Jimy-Arts - 7695
123 (121) Ruby United 7685
124 (125) jraama - 7262
125 (124) tgsgirl - 7255
126 (126) auto de fé - 6847
127 (126) Team Kapiris - 6204
128 (129) Sdrawkcab - 5914
129 (128) TeamSkyFans - 5881
130 (130) Weeley Wheeler - 5457

Last year ingsve won with 13897 points. That would put him in a current 8th place this year. Our reigning champion is currently sitting in 40th place with 11932 points - more than 4000 points behind skidmark.

We have two guys who are very consistant, looking to finish in the top 10 both years; mc_mountain finished 3rd last year and is currently 9th, while Luke Schmid finished 8th last year and is sitting in 10th place currently. Worth mentioning is also MADRAZO who is currently 8th and finished 12th last year. Surely all of these must be among the favorites for the 2013 edition?

I think that nobody can reach anymore skidmark... but the battle for the podium is open for the teams in green and, maybe, also for the purple teams.

Great to have an update from you again Hugo (kudos to CQM et al for keeping things going too). Just to point out the Armchair Cyclist is also a repeat top 10. In fact it is incredibly close on the aggregate score from both editions between myself, Armchair and Waterloo Sunrise (2nd last year).
Waterloo Sunrise - 26177
mc_mountain - 26152
Armchair Cyclist - 26136

Well, no Moser, Demare or Durbridge here and quite a few less profitable picks, so a mid-table finish it will be.

for now, my team:

***** Boonen, LL Sanchez, Costa, Di Luca, Henao, M. Iglinskiy, Rogers, Landa
**** P Velits, Spilak, Guarnieri, Breschel
*** Clarke, Pozzato, Ulissi, Roche
** Sicard, Vaugrenard, Majka, Felline, Anton, Ciolek, Duarte, Martens, Oss
* Offredo, Bertagnolli, Silin, Cabedo, Bilbao, Battaglin, Salerno, Baugnies

I'm hoping for some of my (*) and (**) riders to turn things up a notch. The likes of Oss, Battaglin and Martens might still be able to make a small profit at the end of the year.

Thanks for pointing that out, and my apologies to Armchair Cyclist for not realising that he is also a repeat top 10!

Cool statistic you bring up. Very interesting!

Ouch, bad news for those who are in desperate need of points (I guess that includes me!): Tour of Hangzhou has been postponed until next year.

I'm glad to hear that really. Races like Beijing (and presumably Hangzhou would've been similar) make a bit of a mockery of the CQ system, dishing out huge points for not a lot. Then again you look at e.g. Durbridge effectively scoring ~250pts for basically winning two TTs (Sarthe and Poitou Charentes) ;)

True, it's just part of the game. The same as Viviani scoring 156 points for winning the two stages in Giro della Provincia di Reggio Calabria.

Already two places taken on my team for next year :) Hint: together they're worth 2300 points and I love one of them and hate the other

Haha,
I reckon, the hated one will be a pretty common pick ;)
