Found it hard to get anywhere near 7500. Got a full team and I've used 6953, and that's after putting in two 1000+ guys for two riders worth under 100 combined.

edit: Woop, done now -7499 spent :p

12 Belgian, 5 Dutch, 5 French, 3 Colombian, 2 Spanish, 2 Australian, 1 Venezuelan, 1 Dane, 1 Pole, 1 German.

5 - Rabobank
4 - Vacansoleil
3 - Lotto
2 - QuickStep, Landbouwkrediet, Garmin, Lampre, Movistar
1 - Veranda's, Jong Vlaanderen, Cofidis, Saur, Euskaltel, Sky, Androni, Saxo Bank, RadioShack, Geox?

19-25 - 15
25-30 - 7
30-40 - 10
40+ - 1

Average age of 27.03.

I'm pretty much done, 7497 spent. But I'm going to wait a while with the sending, and double check everything.

I have no idea who your other sub-100/potential-1000 guys is but I think I have the other on my shortlist (who I recognise for that reason :D).

I am pretty much done, but waiting for the RCS before I submit my squad. I got a few pro continental guys on italian squads and I want to make sure that they get invited to the giro at least.

27 riders at 7449. Couldn't quite get as close to the max as some of you. I'm pretty happy with my squad. A solid mix of underachievers ready for a rebound and cheap young talent hoping to break out. Can't wait for the season to start!

I had a couple of sub-100 guys that I thought could get pretty close to 1000 and a couple of others that'll get there in a couple years. I'm interested to see where we overlap when the squads finally do get posted.

You definitely need 33 riders, though. Picking only 27 guys is not very smart. If you don't want to change any of your picks, you can still choose 6 very cheap guys for 51 points.

Thanks for the tip. Didn't play last year, not entirely sure of the best strategy. I'll shift things around a bit.

Cobbling together a team without very much thought. Too many other things on and the TOTY etc.
One headache for me is whether to go with 2, 1100+ riders or 4 at around the 600 mark.
I want the potential Phil Gil type bonanza payout, but fear the long term injury gamble...............

I have to write an important lecture yet I spent the last two hours creating a CQ team. All hail procrastination :(

Anyway. I built a slightly cynical team. A lot of guys who had a horror season (or just disappointed) and some promising youngsters, but only two relatively unknown riders and as far as I can see only two non-ProTour picks. I won't win the originality prize for sure.

8 Italians, 6 Spaniards, 3 Frenchmen, 2 Belgians, 2 Colombians, 2 Australians, a Canadian, an Irishman, a German, a Kazakh, a Dutchman, a Pole, a Slovak, a Slovenian and an American.

9 0-100
8 101-200
7 201-300
6 301-500
3 501+

7490 points.

But I might still drop one rider I can't stand and replace him with a promising youngster.

I don't know about the Pole. If it's the one I'm thinking of, he's definitely going to be in my team but I don't see him as an obvious choice either.

The Slovak is in my shortlist but apparently I had forgotten to add a "priority:yes" tag to him.

I have neither a pole or a slovak, but have most of the young promising Italians on my team. Its probably going to backfire, especially if RCS does end up inviting teams other than Androni, Farnese, etc.

I have a couple of poles but no slovak. Revised team 33 riders coming in at 7458. I do like my team. Having never done this before, though, I have no idea if it is any good.

Getting close, I have about 40 riders on my shortlist now, just have to drop a few I guess, may add some of the higher priced riders because a lot of the combinations I'm coming up with are well short of the 7500.

Got 18 riders under 100 points

And I think I changed the two 1000+ ones. Got a Dutchman and a Belgian now.

I think everyone has the same Slovak and Pole.

I have the Slovak, don't rate the Pole. :)

I won't be posting a breakdown of my team before the deadline, even listing just the nationality of a couple of my riders will give a bit too much away I feel!

Anyone taking Petacchi? I've always just figured that it's too old to risk, but looking again maybe not... I have a lack of consistent sprinters, might need to fix it.

Team sent. Plenty of last minute rejigging, including that of the more expensive riders.

0 over 1000 pts.
3 over 500 pts.
11 under 100 pts.
0 under 10 pts.

6 Italian, 4 French, 4 Belgian, 4 Spanish, 2 Swedish, others from unique nations (too easy to guess who).

Team has most of those I wanted in it... Maybe not as clever as I would have liked to be... Happy enough.

He's old but still capable of delivering good results.
