Yeh, all he has to do is come 3rd in the nats and a few other time trials, if he rides the Worlds he will make well over 100.

yeah my view on durbridge was it wouldn't be too hard to get into the positives.

Anyway little risk.

My goal, after just barely breaking into the top 20 on my first attempt is to break the top 10 this year and spend some time in the yellow ;)

Dang, it seems everyone knew all my bargains and more. Ah well. Hope I don't have too many low cost, low potential riders, but we'll see how we go.

Presentation of my riders:
Probably the most fitting way to describe my team is with the word “talent”. With an average age of only 23.06 my team is very young and I’ve tried to pick the brightest talents out there. Of course there are a few potential bargains up in the age but overall I’ve picked young riders whom I cheer for and think will do well.
There were a few riders I would have loved to include but in the end were left out: Kruijswijk, Offredo, Selig, Kiserlovski, Silin, Rui Costa and Oss are the best examples of this.

Anyway, here’s my chosen ones:

POELS Wout: 681 points
I was very impressed with Poels’ performances last year. He was the first “expensive” pick I made this year and I have high expectations for him this season. I hope he can deliver some results in the Ardennes classics as well as in numerous other races.

PINOT Thibaut: 639 points
Pinot is definitely one of the most promising riders in the peloton. He has already shown, on multiple occasions, that he can compete with the best, for instance when he won Settimana Lombarda or when he finished third in Tre Valli Varesini. I hope he can continue his amazing progress and deliver even more and better results.

ANTON HERNANDEZ Igor: 634 points
I don’t really know what to expect from Anton anymore. I had high hopes for him last year but he never reached the level we all know that he has. Anton is one of my favorite riders and I would be devastated if I left him out of my team and he then went on to have an amazing 2012 season. Here’s to hoping that he indeed will have a great season!

KREUZIGER Roman: 528 points
The Czech didn’t score many CQ points last season even though he actually was pretty strong and managed a sixth place in Giro d’Italia and a fourth place in Liege-Bastogne-Liege. This year I hope he can do a little bit better in one week races and hopefully in the Grand Tours as well.

BOONEN Tom: 502 points
Is Boonen past his prime or not? I certainly hope not because I’ve always liked him. The last two seasons haven’t been good for him but I hope he can rejuvenate himself and once again dominate the cobbled classics.

GUARDINI Andrea: 332 points
Who’s the most talented young sprinter? Guardini is certainly up there and I think he’s the one with the highest top speed of the young crop of sprinters. I really look forward to his 2012 season and I hope he can continue delivering results.

HAEDO Juan Jose: 314 points
I think Haedo is really good when he’s on top. Unfortunately, that’s not very often which is primarily because he’s not very good at positioning himself. This season Riis has stated that they will race for Haedo a lot more than they previously have and with a train I hope and think that he can do very well.

POZZATO Filippo: 301 points
Some might argue that Filippo isn’t as good as he used to be anymore, but anyone who actually watched the Italian fall classics would know that he indeed was very strong – especially in Coppa Sabatini. Now that he is at Farnese-Vini he will be the captain in any races he desires and hopefully he will score a lot of points on this account.

BETANCUR GOMEZ Carlos Alberto: 291 points
The young Colombian showed last fall why he should be considered one of the brightest talents on the cycling scene with his win in Giro dell’Emilia. At 291 points he is quite expensive but I have high hopes for him, especially now that he can except to be the leader in a lot of races.

TALANSKY Andrew: 229 points
Talansky is making a case for him being the most talented American stage racer with several good results in one week races last season. He’s a good time trialist and at the very least a decent climber. This season I am sure he can do even better especially with the faith Vaughters seems to have in him.

BATTAGLIN Enrico: 228 points
I was a little unhappy when Battaglin won Coppa Sabatini because I had already picked him for my team but on the other hand this very convincing win showed that he is definitely capable of competing at the highest level. Even though 228 points is a lot for a neo-pro, Battaglin has already proved that he is probably worth it, and at Colnago he will get a lot of opportunities.

VAN KEIRSBULCK Guillaume: 227 points
I don’t quite understand why there hasn’t been more hype going on around this young Belgian. He had a very good first season as a neo-pro which culminated with a win in Omloop van het Houtland. Van Keirsbulck might just be the next big name to come out of Belgium and I’m sure he will show a lot of potential next season.

FELLINE Fabio: 222 points
One of my favorite riders. He managed only one win last season but had a few other decent results and some good performances. Now that he is at Androni I expect him to get a bit more freedom and hopefully 2012 will be his big break through season.

RATTO Daniele: 218 points
Another one of my favorite riders. Ratto had a decent 2011 but lacked some big results. He’s very talented and I hope that he at Liquigas can fulfill his potential and get some freedom in the Italian one day races. I’m sure it would pay off.

VELITS Peter: 205 points
Peter didn’t have the best of seasons in 2011. No wins and nowhere near the results of his 2010 season. Velits has moved to OmegaPharma-Quickstep and can expect a lot more support in the races he shines in, which hopefully will amount into quite a few CQ points.

MADRAZO RUIZ Angel: 199 points
Madrazo impressed me a lot last season with his aggressive riding and great climbing skills. Especially the punch he showed in Tirreno-Adriatico was impressive and actually reminded me a bit of Valverde. I hope he can build on his good 2011 season and get some good results this year.

HENAO MONTOYA Sergio Luis: 190 points
Probably the most hyped rider on these forums – but not without reason. At 190 points, Henao is definitely a risk. It is yet to be seen what his program will be, how much freedom he is given and how he manages the shift to European cycling. However, Henao has already shown that he’s capable of competing at the highest level of racing with his great performances in Tour of Colorado and, especially, in Tour of Utah.

NOVIKOV Nikita: 172 points
Novikov was definitely one of the most impressive U23 riders last season. I was quite surprised when he signed for Vacansoleil instead of Katusha but I think the team fits his aggressive style very well and he’ll get a lot of opportunities to attack and get in breaks. I think he’ll have a great first season as a neo-pro.

DEMARE Arnaud: 148 points
Demare is only one of a handful of very promising young Frenchmen, but he is definitely among the most talented of these, and one of the most promising up and coming sprinters. At 148 points Demare is rather expensive for a neo-pro but he has already shown what he is made of and I am sure his first season as a pro is going to be a good one.

KELDERMAN Wilco: 134 points
Among the highest rated young riders, Kelderman is another much hyped rider on these forums, but he has also showed a lot of potential to warrant the hype. I hope he can continue his progress and show why he’s one of the most promising stage racers out there.

BARDET Romain: 130 points
Bardet might be the next big thing to come out of France. The talented young Frenchman has a second place in Liege-Bastogne-Liege espoirs under his name and is regarded as a promising climber, but in Tour de l’Avenir he also showed some sprinting skills finishing second in stage one and four. Cofidis is a good team for Bardet and he’ll hopefully get a chance to show off his talent.

VANMARCKE Sep: 128 points
After Breschel Vanmarcke was the first rider on my team. He is in my opinion one of the brightest talents for the cobbled classics campaign, but results wise his 2011 season didn’t really reflect this. He was much stronger than his results make him out to be, and hopefully he will confirm this this season.

SANTORO Antonio: 103 points
Santoro had a great autumn where he showed in various races that he is a huge talent. Especially his performances in Settimana Lombarda were impressive and I hope he will carry his showings over to this season and keep developing.

PUCCIO Salvatore: 100 points
Winner of the 2011 edition of Ronde Van Vlaanderen beloften Salvatore Puccio is one of Italy’s many big hopes for one day races. He’s an all rounder who excels on hills but he also has a decent engine and a decent sprint. He can develop in pretty much any way, and which direction he chooses remains to be seen. I hope he’ll have a good first season among the pros.

BRESCHEL Matti: 98 points
My first pick and probably the most obvious one. Matti had a very unlucky 2011 season with surgery, knee problems and the crash in the Vuelta. If he can stay injury free he has the potential to be one of the best picks this season.

PELUCCHI Matteo: 90 points
The young Italian sprinter showed in one race last season why he should be considered a great talent as he won Clasica de Almeira in front of Rojas. I think the transfer to Europcar will do him well – I at least hope so as he is a rider I follow closely.

MOSER Moreno: 78 points
As the nephew of the legendary Francesco Moser there is a lot of pressure on the young Italians shoulders. But Moreno has the talent to live up to the expectations. He’s a very clever rider who can climb, sprint and even time trial. Liquigas has certainly signed a very promising rider and I hope he’ll show this already in his first season among the pros.

ELISSONDE Kenny: 74 points
The 20-year-old Frenchman impressed me a lot in last year’s Vuelta a Burgos, finishing 18th overall in a field filled with good climbers. Together with the other young Frenchmen, Pinot and Bardet, Elissonde is the biggest hope for a future French GT contender.

VAN DER SANDE Tosh: 70 points
Which type of rider Van der Sande will develop into remains to be seen. He has a very good sprint but he is also very light so he could develop into a hilly classics rider like his idol, Philippe Gilbert. If he becomes just as good only time will tell, but Tosh is in my opinion one of the most talented young Belgians.

LANDA MEANA Mikel: 63 points
Landa was the rider behind one of the most impressive wins last season in my opinion – at least for a stagiaire. I am of course talking about his stage 5 victory in Vuelta a Burgos where he dropped not only his rivals but also his captain, Sanchez. If that kind of riding is the norm for Landa we will be seeing a lot of him the next many years.

QUINTANA ROJAS Nairo Alexander: 60 points
Another much hyped young rider but he is perhaps the brightest climbing talent out there and I am excited to see him on the European cycling scene with Movistar this season.

MAJKA Rafal: 57 points
It seems as though Bjarne Riis sees a future star in Majka – just as I do. At least he has given Majka a leadership role in this year’s Giro. Whether that’s a good or a bad thing remains to be seen, but Majka definitely showed some promise last year.

COLBRELLI Sonny: 52 points
Another young Italian sprinter is coming through the ranks and his name is Colbrelli. This season he will race as a neo-pro for Colnago which should present him with some opportunities in smaller races, especially now that Belletti has left the team.

Absolutely love the love for Battaglin! :)

Yeah you have been rolling out the hype train.

I spent a long time justifying 230 points for a young rider but the clincher was that he only joined Colnago in August.

Hope not everyone has him.

It seems as though I forgot to put in SantiBotero's team. He'll be on the next update.

Also, having put in 126 teams, I'm sure there will be a mistake somewhere. If you spot any - in your team or in another - please send me a message.

I see a lot of people have expensive riders mixed with cheap ones.

I decided to stick as close to the average of 222 or some such as I could and only went as high as 650 for Anton because he can win the Vuelta.

For our many newcomers, I'll write a bit about it tommorow.

You dont have the 2010 scores as 2012 scores thing you did last year to see what happens if people generally repeat 2010 performances?

Also, the - most picked riders thing?

Couldn't quite help it, and he's absolutely worth the hype IMO (although he still has to prove it regularly on the big scene).

Guess I can call off the hype train now seing as so many thinks he's worth his price. But he is tailor made for the italian race scene.

Next year: All aboard the Dylan Van Baarle hype train! :D

Surprised to see so many people have Kroon. I only put him in because my chief advisor - El Pistolero, told me Kroon was going to win Der Ronde.

He was an obvious pick. A terrible year at BMC so he's dirt cheap and now he'll ride for his old team again and that team doesn't have many good classics riders so he is likely to be one of their main classics guys.

Meh, look at his record with Riis compared to elsewhere. I'm not confident that he's going to be huge, but will get enough to make him a reasonable pick.

I really wanted to fit all these riders in, especially since i think Farrar will win the Olympics RR.
Henao did not fit in my team ( the same ) for Blythe ( i chose Demare instead ) and i chose Moser for Cattaneo. De Gendt is a good pick but i thought a bit risky. Everyone picked Kroon  LLS is a good pick as well.

I think I have a unique rider though.

There seems to be more riders that last year that a lot of people have chosen. Still I haven't seen any team yet with more than 15 riders in common with me though there are still many more teams to look through.

Seeing a few Battaglins, Puccios and Mosers, but no other Cattaneos yet. How so? I did good, or bad?
