Of course it helps. It's all about the combos: how many people have Velits AND Boonen AND Breschel AND Rogers?

Exactly. I haven't counted that combination (although I do have all four on my team), but there was a good example a couple of weeks ago with Het Volk. Boonen, Haussler and Vanmarcke were all very popular picks, but only 11 people had all three.

The way I look at it, picks like Boonen, Breschel, Velits etc. are ones you need to have to win, but they won't be the ones that win it for you. It'll be the overall combination of obvious picks and some slightly more obscure picks who pick up good points. Kvinto has the highest number of popular picks (a stat from when the startsheet was released), and it's little wonder he is up near the top.

last year, at the end of the paris-nice he had only 37 points... this year he has already 70 points and he can get 40+ more points for the GC... so not so bad...

I'm beginning to think he looks a bit expensive though...we'll see.

Wow, unexpectedly good day at P-N with Lulu first and Voigt second. Everybody has Lulu but I'm the only one in the top 10 that has Voigt. Not much but I'll take it :)
Also Spilak looking strong for the GC, which is good because he is not that popular (in the top 10 only TeoSheva, Mellow Velo and me have him) and that's about it for me in the GC. It appears as if Froome19's prediction of a top 5 won't be far off.

Good ride by Jens. Too bad he didnt get the win, he deserved it ... on the other hand LuLu got some points for me ... I mean for me and 64 of my closest friends :D

Today was good for me. I got 1 and 2 at Paris-Nice with LL Sanchez also moving from 17th to 13th in GC, and I got 2nd and 5th with Greipel and Belletti at Tirreno.

80 points coming from Lindeman :D
me and only 4 more have him, so really good points. he costed only 57!
I was impressive by this young guy in the past tour of Britain, very solid race for him!

Furthermore, I've papi Horner (only 5 more have him), and I hope I can get something at the end of the T-A ;)

Geez Teo, you're on a real hot streak. Way to go!

I'm still holding my breath on my team for this week. Tejay is one of my more unique picks (18 have him), so Leipheimer's bad luck means a few more points for my CQ team, and he should hold his own at the TT, but asking him to overtake anyone other than Spilak might be asking too much. LuisLe will get a few points for top 15, but other than that, P-N is mediocre.

Got a lot of guys in T-A still in it, though, Kreuz and Di Luca today, but also Costa, Battaglin, Velits, Majka and Breschel close... Dunno who I can hope for to still hold a high placing after tomorrow though, other than Kreuz and maybe Velits, who are hardly unique picks. Add that to nothing in the Dutch races and I'm quickly falling behind.

Lindeman did well to beat Boivin. Tom Van Asbroeck is also doing quite well.

Kreuziger to smash Horner pls

Ain't happening brother. As I said in my post before the race even started, Chris promised me to win this race so I hope he can keep his word :D

Oh yeah, I have also Kreuziger, Di Luca, TJ and few others too so hopefully I can make it back to the Top 100 hahaha

Boonen, Spilak, Kreuziger, Lulu, Voigt (now positive :)) and Nibali bring in a lot of points for this week. I should keep my place in the top 10 easily but unfortunately the lead (even for a week) seems out of reach : each time I have a rider that score semi-decent points, Mellow Velo has him too, it's just scary
