... Hm... Rather strange...

Oops, my bad. I thought I saw someone mention a new update earlier in the thread.

Anyway, I scored 588 points so yay.

I think the post said there was a new update on cqranking.com, not the website for our game. I thought the same as you at first because they said they moved up, but I guess they just copied the download info into their own excel file.

Breschel is my hope for AGR. Boonen in his stunning form will also win it of course.

I think Kreuziger, Costa and Vanendert could go well in the other ones though.

I am hoping that Basso recovers in time for the Giro.

Update 14: Mellow Velo is the leader going into the hilly classics season

The top 10 hasn't changed much this week. TeoSheva is the only team that sneaks itself in thanks to Horner and Durbridge. Oh yeah, and Boonen but he actually doesn't matter much as all of the top teams have him in their squad. In fact all of the the top 50 teams have him in their team. Skibby the bush kangaroo in 51st place is the highest placed team without Boonen. Three weeks ago, before the "Boonen bonanza", Skibby was in third place.

Mellow Velo is for the 7th week in a row on top of the leaderboard and has thus occupied the top spot for half the game so far. 15 of his 33 riders have now turned a profit and he's now leading with more than 500 points which is quite an impressive lead. However, with Paris-Roubaix done the cobbled season has now ended as well and we're approaching the hilly classics instead, which could definitely turn things upside down depending on how the top teams have constructed their squads. In fact, Mellow Velo actually took over the first place in the week that the cobbled season started with Omloop Het Nieuwsblad...

Top 10

1. (1) Mellow Velo - 6351
2. (2) EvansIsTheBest - 5815
3. (6) shalgo - 5630
4. (9) Popchu - 5588
5. (3) AntonioRossi - 5572

8. (7) skidmark - 5529
9. (10) Netserk - 5500
10. (5) hrotha - 5421

Looking at this weeks high scorers we find that both Popchu and ansimi for the third week in a row are to be found among the top 5 - impressive!

This weeks high scorers

1. Spider1964 - 785
2. Popchu - 774
3. Michele - 754
4. ansimi - 741
4. Ham-N-Eggs - 741

This weeks high jumpers

1. Armchair cyclist +13
2. AussieGoddess +11
3. Spider 1964 +9
3. Ham-N-Eggs +9
3. Lortnoc +9

I think this is a good time to have a look at the bottom of the leaderboard where Rocksteady has jumped away from the last place this week thanks mainly to some points from Farrar, Horner and Boivin.
Not surprisingly is it now once again TeamSkyFans and his cheap squad that is to be found at the bottom with 1726 points.

121. (125) Team Kapiris - 2499
122. (119) jraama - 2422
123. (123) gerundium - 2372
124. (122) Cuyphagist - 2294
125. (126) auto de fé - 2237
126. (124) Ruby United - 2209
127. (127) Sdrawkcab - 2143
128. (130) Rocksteady - 1988
129. (128) the_fool_on_the_hill - 1863
130. (129) TeamSkyFans - 1726

There must have been some adjustments done to the 2011 results, because I paid 199 for Madrazo, as shown in the spreadsheet, but his 2011 score is now given as 206 at the CQ Ranking site. I guess it's inevitable even if stuff like this might put some of us above the 7500 budget limit.

All of Contador's 2011 results were removed, so quite a few riders retroactively gained points as they moved up the standings of races from which Contador was deleted.

True, that is due to Contadors ban. However, it doesn't really matter as we picked our teams based on the same premises. If Madrazo's 2011 score is 206, 199 or 2000 is completely irrelevant now.

Second again, what a surprise
At least I should close the gap a little during the next two weeks with a better squad on paper than Mellow Velo for the Ardennes (Nibali, Rolland, Kreuziger, Anton versus Nibali and Van den Broeck). But he should be able to keep the top position for quite sometime with the lead he has.
Funnily enough, the most similar team to mine's (shalgo's) is just behind me in the ranking in 3rd. Great minds think alike :D
With Dumoulin yesterday, 17 of my riders have already reached or surpassed their 2011 score

Ah, OK. Took them a while, so I thought they weren't going to do it. Does this affect the official 2011 CQ Ranking Game standings though? :D

Thanks for the update. Slipped out of the Top 20 (21) but still just about 300 points from the Top 10.

I would also like to apologize to my countryman Jan Barta for not selecting him this year. He did OK for me last year but I left him out because I thought it would be hard for NetApp to receive more invitations to good races therefore scoring good points .... boy, was I wrong. They even got the Giro invite and Barta is winning races with a classy style :D

Thanks, you know my team better than I do!
If you say my days at the top are numbered, then I don't have to.:);)
2 months in the lead way exceeds my expectations, when I first got to the top rung.
Now, If Phil Gilbert can only find his best form and take most of the winning points, maybe I can limit the damage.

With any luck, I could still be able to pass the 7000 point mark before the end of April, with an outside chance of breaking even by the start of the Giro.
Wouldn't that be something, I think?

I think you have a very good team and honestly I think you are the favorite to win now - not just because you're on top now but also because your team is very strong.

Galimzyanov needs to score some points though, as he's not looking like he'll do much this year for some reason. I'm not quite sure what to think of Matthews and VDB but hey, they're both doing better than my 600+ points picks so what do I know? :D

Nibali could turn out to be a very good and important pick (more than he is now), and it's actually only Appollonio that I'm not sure is such a good pick :)

Nibali is a rider that can win hilly one day races, one-week stage races and even grand tours. His consistency is his biggest asset which is good cq-wise and the worlds are playing into his strengths this year, it's a circa 100 points bonus compared to 2011. Last year he put in a number of great efforts that didn't translate into as many cq points as it should have (at Lombardia and MSR notably) but most importantly the ridiculously hard Giro meant he barely compete after May missing on a lot of points. I actually think that Nibali was as strong (if not stronger at times) in 2011 as in 2010 but somehow manage to pick up only half the points. That's why he was a member of the first group of riders I included in my team along with Boonen, Breschel, Démare and Anton.

For this season, much will depend on his program and his pairing with Sagan, but he is stronger than I have ever seen him and barring serious injury/disease, he should double his score, which considering the price range he was in, is quite unique. 2000 points would make him a great pick, 2500 (it's possible if a little far fetched : 2 GT podiums = upwards of 1000 points, a few very good classics placings = 500 points, a couple of Tour de Slovénie-like wins = 200 points + his current total would put him around that mark) would make him one of the best bargains of the year.

I moved down 12 places from the 13th update and 9 from the last official update. Not very happy but hopefully Kreuziger, Vanendert, Breschel, Costa and hopefully Clarke ( F-W ) can go well in the Ardennes and then the Giro with Basso/ Kreuziger will come.

Hoping for Devolder to go well in later races this year.

68 points from Vanendert (7th) and Matthews (10th), but what it's nice is that Jelle shown a good form for the week coming, and I'm the only one in the top10 that have him.

Duarte and Vanendert getting in shape to earn me big points in the Ardennes! :)

I earned arround 100 points today, I think. I'm content with that for an Ardennes prep.

Website is updated .... http://cqmanager.net/rankings/

Looking through some of the Top Picks I decided to run a quick report of TOP 33 riders that are ALREADY profitable. Valverde is included because I didnt adjust the cost but you would be able to buy him as well since the cost without Valverde is just 4421.

If you had these 33 guys, you would have already scored 9065 points!
