You got more points in one race than I got all week .
My team has been going backwards since the Tour, I guess using almost 1/5 of my budget on Evans and Farrar is finally having an effect. At least Sam Bennett is finally showing some form.

Interesting...

I had

Pippo (220)
Thor (76)
Rojas (35)
Matti (15)
Löfkvist (9)
Boaro (5)
and Taaramäe (5)

score points for me

Well, that makes sense, I had all of the first 5 plus 2 of my own 5 pointers (Sicard and Von Hoff). Hopefully not too many others had as favorable a combo, I need to pick up some places to regain my dignity...

Update #31: Upheaval in the top 10

The last two weeks a lot of points were earned all across the scoreboard. squire takes the prize of being this week's top scorer, as he scores 1360 points from a lot of different riders including Pozzato, Rojas, Matthews, Ponzi, Herrada and Hushovd. The Hitch is 2nd, scoring 136 points less than squire.

This week's top scorers:

1. squire - 1360
2. The Hitch - 1224
3. the asian - 1187
4. will10 - 1176
5. Gotland - 1150

Although squire scored an enormous amount of points, it's the asian, 3rd on this week's top scorers list, who takes the prize as this week's high jumper, as he moves up 29 places. squire, however, is 2nd - tied with LaFlorecita - on the list, moving up 27 places. Gotland and The Hitch are also on both lists.

This week's high jumpers:

1. the asian +29
2. squire +27
2. LaFlorecita +27
4. Gotland +26
5. The Hitch +22

In the top 10, the most notable is that will10, 4th on this week's top scorer list, moves from 4th to 1st, overtaking SteelyDan as our leader. Two new faces enter the top 10 as well: Ferminal who moves from 12th to 6th and gustienordic who just makes it onto the list in 10th place. tomazo and the_fool_on_the_hill drops out of the top 10.

Top 10:

1. (+3) will10 - 10866
2. (-1) SteelyDan - 10711
3. (-1) Geraint Too Fast - 10554
4. (+2) chinaboy - 10395
5. (-2) adamski101 - 10285
6. (+6) Ferminal - 10162
7. (+2) freddybobs - 10121
8. (-) vladimir - 10069
8. (-3) ironted - 10069
10. (+3) gustienordic - 9891

Alright, moved up 18 spots, almost in the top half of the rankings... that's the most promising development in a few months, so I'll take it! Although my Vuelta GC team was built around Pinot, Barguil and Anacona, and the latter is already waaay out of contention, Barguil seems to have been dropped already, and I don't wanna pin my hopes on the unpredictable Pinot. Fingers crossed.

At least I've stopped falling, even if it was only up a couple of places

The good news is 5 riders into profit this update POZZATO Filippo, VANMARCKE Sep, SUTHERLAND Rory, LÖFKVIST Thomas, BRAMMEIER Matthew

Was hoping for Majka to score me some odd 100 points for a top 10 finish in la Vuelta but alas. Pinot is now 7th though so not all is lost.

Got 48 points for Ciolek in Brussels, he is one of the guys I am really really happy with, now at 762 points for the cost of 242 points

So with my team sucking as usual, I decided to look at some stats about this edition of the game. Let's start with our leader, will10, he is the ninth different person to hold the top spot this year breaking last year record of 8 :)
While it is pretty much a given that this year's winner will have less points than the previous winners (ingsve in 2011 and skidmark 2012) with at least 3000 to score before the end of the year, the collective battle to finish above 2011 is still on. In 2011 the average score was 9863 while currently the average for 2013 is 8475. It is going to be difficult especially as the top riders in the Vuelta aren't that popular (except Pinot) :

Current Vuelta Top 10

I'm just waiting for Farrar to get a run of super form and not be a terrible pick anymore :)

Lol I know. At the start of the year when he finished second in a couple of the trofeos people were discussing whether he could become this year's great pick.

Also, dropping Coquard last minute really hurt me. Not so smart

Well, a good week for sure. Dennis gets a pile of points in Alberta, back to back stages with Gilbert and Barguil, and Rebellin picks up his usual consistent top ten. Nothing from Brussels or Fourmies, but what are you going to do? I'm hoping I get some consistently good results to the end of the season to move up...

This week:

Canadian races - Aru, Bobridge, Sicard, Dekker, Dennis, Pozzato, Trentin, Schleck, Dombrowski, Thomas, Breschel.

some good options there, no favourites, but Pippo is on strong form and Breschel can show well in these kind of races, and basically everyone but Bobridge and Dekker have shown some punch in the past.

Tour of Britain - Lofkvist, Battaglin, Barbin, Von Hoff

Von Hoff should do alright, but the CSF pair probably have their chances limited by an on-form Modolo.
