Fermi must be killing it. Unique pick Rujano, almost unique Mancebo (me and search also) and his team is heavily Australian based for next week.

2.2s not enough to get ahead of those who dominated the nats :( I actually have a week TDU team (only Manzin/Meyer aside from Porte), need Anton/Dayer/Sepulveda to come good.

Well, ferminal complains on on a high level, compared to my team...;)
Cav, dombrowski and sepulveda are in a lot of teams and down under, i am not expecting much, even if i have dennis, velits, moser, de gendt, stannard showing their faces

Ulissi could turn out to be a very good pick for those who gambled on a retroactive suspension.

Hmm, I guess I should be happy, but I had hoped he'd return earlier in March than the 28th (He just misses out of Settimana Coppi e Bartali...). Now I just pray for Pais Vasco and Trentino before the Giro and then an awesome fall where he cleans up all the sh!t small Italian races.

Only if he can get a team (MPCC ineligible, so shouldn't be able to stay with Lampre)

Quick note, I'm a bit busy today so I'll try to have the update later, but it may be tomorrow morning (afternoon in Europe). For those of you anxiously awaiting this 2.2 race update (Ferminal), my apologies.

I don't think Shane is interpreting the rules correctly in this case. He/Lampre should be fine.

So after three race days, Bobridge has already provided a 155% return. That's very nice. Westra seems interesting. I don't know why I never really considered him. I think he might be a good pick this year.

I considered both Westra and Fuglsang, but decided against them as Aru is an established GC contender for this year and they will most likely have to ride for Nibali again.

Hoping that both riders can go well, even though they're not in my team.

Update 2: Revenge of the 2005 GT Podium

The somewhat whimsical Hollywood-movie-sequel-based title to this week's update reflects the fact that there was very little scoring done this week, which contained merely 2 2.2 races as a bridge between Aussie nationals and the TdU-TdSL double, but both races were won by blasts from the past. Jose Rujano, 3rd at the Giro ten years ago, won the Vuelta al Tachira despite not having a trade team. With 36 points, he has tripled his 2014 value. Francisco Mancebo, 3rd at the Vuelta ten years ago, won the Tour of Egypt with his Skydive Dubai team dominating. At 37 points, he's halfway to last year's total. Both riders may prove to be a deal despite limited racing opportunities, and this is reflected in this weeks standings.

If this week's movie is "Update 2: Revenge of the 2005 GT Podium", the trailer voiceover might go something like this: "Two men, forgotten and written off by their peers as has-beens. One week of slow racing news. Two races. Only one CQ Manager had the courage to believe in both." Ferminal somewhat amazingly had Rujano as a unique pick, and also was one of 3 participants to take a chance on Mancebo. As a result, his 73 points blows everyone else away this week. Hitch and search both picked Mancebo too, so they tie for 2nd, while DJ Sprtsch and Popchu benefit from unique picks to get 4th and 5th respectively. Tying for 6th through 21st is the group that picked Jakub Mareczko and got 4 points. For the other 134 participants, sorry, you got no points.

Small bit of housekeeping: BigMac, one of the first teams to enter, notified me that his team is under 25 riders, which neither of us noticed (I got mixed up at the quick glance that had his bottom rider on line 25, without correcting for the fact that the first few lines don't have riders). As I can't conceive of any possible benefit he'd get from having fewer riders (and being 191 points under the 7500 limit to boot), I'm allowing his team to stay in the game. Also, I received no late entries after last week, and have decided that the much-discussed Panda Claws team will simply be noted on the spreadsheet with an asterisk, for which folks can mentally correct the results if they so choose. The team won't be included in my 'green jersey' competition, but will remain on the results page as an unofficial entrant.

This week's top scorers:

1. Ferminal 73
2. Hitch 37
2. search 37
4. DJ Sprtsch 22
5. Popchu 15

This week's high movers:

1. Ferminal +39
2. Hitch +27
3. search +21
4. DJ Sprtsch +18
5. Popchu +6
5. Schleckamagurky +6

As well, one might note that Schleckamagurky moved up 6 places with 4 points. Can't remember too many weeks in this game where one of the high movers moved up more spaces than they got points. Of course, some of the other top 5 movers came close too...

This week counts toward the 'Green Jersey' right? :) or will it not count if there are very few races? (I saw I can't partake, just being curious. :) )

More than 20 participants scored, so I can't see why it shouldn't count. This was a flat sprint stage that didn't matter (much) GC-wise, but a stage win is still a stage win ;)

Westra will be their leader for Paris Nice. I hope he will also give de Panne (or generally some of the easier cobbled races) another try. And who knows...maybe he can even make use of his good gc position in Down Under this week.

Nice analogy :)
