That would be quite an accomplishment! I don't think anyone has actually managed that yet (correct me if I'm wrong).

I have five too.

Gerrans, Kittel, Stuyven, Petit and Velits. (Though Velits is quite insignificant)

Happy to be in 11th place at the moment.

Only picks I'm regretting currently are Barguil and Kung.

Oh I meant that I don't think anyone in any season of the game has managed to get all his or her riders into profit :)

Hugo's comment about having all riders into profit got me thinking I'd like to check that. I remember coming close I think in the big 2012 year, but even then I had Offredo who I know got suspended after getting like 7 points of his 295 cost.

Anyway, I've been meaning to get all the old spreadsheets to do some aggregate rankings, but unfortunately the uploads are out of date in some places (for example, the links in the 2012 thread go to cqmanager.com, the domain name for which expired last month). My question: does anyone have the year end spreadsheets for the years of this game? I only checked the 2012 thread so it's possible most are still up, but it'd be good to collect them in the same place if someone has them handy.

Here you go :)

I used them for my aggregate placing ranking in the beginning of this thread. For the 2012 results, I found the first 2012 sheet somewhere on my computer, the one with just all the teams, so I just pasted the last 2012 CQ ranking update into that file. That might be wrong if the game ended earlier in the year, but it's easily fixable.

I'm pretty sure no-one has ever managed to get all their riders into profit.

Hold on all you Goss pessimists! The great Matthew Goss finished 9th on todays stage in Langkawi! That's his first top 10 result since he finished 8th in a stage in Tour of California in May 2015 and his second top 10 since he finished 10th in a stage in Tour de Suisse in June 2014. He might just be on his way back!

My unique pick and zero pointer Piedra was 10th in Langkawi GC, so that's a nice and unexpected 44 points bonus. That's again good news after I moved 67 places in the ranking in only two weeks. :)

Okay so Rosa didn't start Strade Bianche after all, my team is doomed for this week :( :(
No points in Langkawi, no points in Le Samyn, no possible scorers in Driedaagse, only Cancellara in Strade who could score and he is on everyone's team :(

Fedi is a very nice pick. Honestly, he could have a 700-1000 points season. 5 races and he's into profit.
Formolo was 13th today btw :)

Close enough. I was looking at the results before they confirmed him as 13th
Oh well, a sign of good shape at least.

With regards to Fedi, 1000 points is actually possible this season. With all the Autumn classics, he could be this year's Colbrelli (2014).

Yes, Colbrelli was exactly the rider I was thinking of when I estimated that Fedi could potentially reach 1000 points :)

First unexpected win of the season with Simon Clarke today. After a mediocre Aussie campaign, had resigned myself to him focussing on road captain duties. But maybe JV will let him off the leash a bit more than Matt White? Handfull of points for Formolo and Adam Yates at the same race.

Have Cancellara but that was it for Strade. John Ebsen got 26 points at Langkawi and goes 26 points into profit. He can sit up now for the rest of year, job done:)

Disappointing last day at West Flanders for Van Kiersbulck who slipped from 7th to 12th on the GC. With so many other EQS riders firing, could be another year of domming and picking up scraps for him

Talansky hasn't started too badly at Paris-Nice and is my main GC hope there. Also have Simon Yates, Kittel, Ten Dam, Van Baarle, Gautier and Eiking. Loads at Tirreno with a podium of Adam Yates, Formolo and TGV being the most likely outcome:)

Well, it's funny that when I feel the season is finally starting, I get like one rider who scores me points this week. Given, it was Cancellara, and I'd rather have him than not, but other than some scraps from Stuyven and Formolo, I didn't really get anything. Oh, I guess Lopez's (annoyingly diminished but still good) GC points count, I had kind of already banked those last week in my mind.

Anyway, onto the WT 'start of spring' races!

Paris-Nice

Magnus Cort
Michael Valgren
Marcel Kittel
Arthur Vichot

Arnaud Demare
Lawson Craddock
Andrew Talansky
Sylvain Chavanel

Adrien Petit

Bolded names are riders I feel have the best chance to get points. I suppose Demare and Petit can conceivably top 5 in some sprint stages, and Craddock seems in good form so I would be pleasantly surprised but not shocked with a top 20. This is the type of race that Chavanel and Vichot could do okay - the real hard climb (partway up Ventoux) is real early in that stage, and the MTF is 15km at 5.7% - I don't know much about the climb, but it could be one those guys hang around for. Looking at the parcours of this race was actually the last tipping point that convinced me to pick Vichot. Fingers crossed.

Tirenno-Adriatico

Tejay Van Garderen
Taylor Phinney
Davide Formolo
Tony Martin
Fernando Gaviria
Daniel Martin
Fabian Cancellara
Jasper Stuyven

This race is interesting - the MTF also doesn't seem too hard, and stage 2 has an interesting punchy last few KM. TJVG, Formolo and Dan Martin could all do fine in the overall, Canc, Tony and Phinney could do well both in the TTT and end ITT. Gaviria can do well in the sprints, obviously. So I'm pretty well covered, but unsure of how it'll shake out due to the fact that the mountains might not really be selective.

Just some minor points this week, not having Cancellara because I picked Barguil really hurts right now.

Tirreno - Adriatico
PERAUD Jean Christophe
VAN GARDEREN Tejay
DE MARCHI Alessandro
PHINNEY Taylor
NERZ Dominik
ROSON GARCIA Jaime
FORMOLO Davide
LANGEVELD Sebastian
MARTIN Tony
GAVIRIA RENDON Fernando
MARTIN Daniel
MEZGEC Luka
YATES Adam

Pretty decent line-up that could score at every stage and GC.

Pre-update update: February's monthly totals

Hey guys! I just realized I forgot to include the monthly leaders in last week's update. I had some spreadsheet issues at the start of the year with those columns and I just forgot about fixing it (since January didn't need a monthly update as the last week of January update was the same as the month totals). Anyway, here we go:

February's Top Scorers

Rank Team Points this month
1 Nicosix 1469
2 Pentacycle 1417
2 skidmark 1417
4 shalgo 1391
5 Ruvu75 1390
6 StephenC2020 1292
7 jeroenk 1262
8 The_Instigator 1255
9 asdfgh101 1223
10 minessa 1217

Nicosix confirms that their team's overall spot at the top was due to a great February! Pentacycle's mighty week in the last week of Feb accounts for more than half their team's monthly total, and indeed team skidmark quietly racks up a very good month tied for second, but never finishing in a weekly top 10 (finishing between 10th-15th 3 of the last 4 weeks). Of course, at this early stage the top 10 overall very much resembles this list - only togo95 and karaev, who both had great Januarys, are in the overall top 10 but not on this list.

February's High Movers

Rank Team Up/down
1 Popchu (+59)
2 LaFlorecita (+54)
2 Skibby the bush kangaroo (+54)
4 LosBrolin (+52)
5 ironted (+51)
6 Mellow Velo (+49)
7 Schleckamagurky (+48)
7 del1962 (+48)
9 squire (+45)
10 Pentacycle (+43)

Hey Flo! you're on an update, and not even as a side mention at the end! This list is full of teams that made up some ground after a relatively subdued January. All of these teams are in the top half of the table (I guess that's inevitable if you move up so many spots), but the only one to have leapt into the current top 10 is Pentacycle, who cumulatively leapt 43 spots on the month, but actually leapt 65 spots last week! So the month was down before it was up for team Pentacycle. For the rest of the teams on this list, obviously they'll hope to use it as a springboard into the rest of the season. This game is a distance run, not a sprint, so there are plenty of chances to move up and down yet to come!

These lists have been edited into the saved version of the last update, so if you want to peruse the full monthly list, click on last update's dropbox link to get the updated file. Otherwise, new update will come out later today!

Update #8: Pentacycle doubles up, laps the field

This week was somewhat of a 'soft' week for the game - Strade Bianche is a race that's bigger than its HC status and accompanying CQ points, to be sure, and not many riders in this game competed in La Samyn or West Vlaanderen. Langkawi awarded GC points, although most of the stage points were decided before this week.

Still, the game witnessed a fairly rare feat, which is the same team winning two weeks in a row! Last week Pentacycle jumped a crazy 65 places into 9th overall while winning the week, and this week he completed the jaw-dropping run up the charts.

This week's top scorers

Rank Team Points this week
1 Pentacycle 630
2 laarsland 411
3 StephenC2020 409
4 al_pacino 400
5 the_fool_on_the_hill 383

That's right, winning last week's competition by 188 points wasn't enough; this time Pentacycle won by 219 points. While some of the 77 teams that had Miguel Angel Lopez were probably upset that he dropped a few spots in Langkawi due to a mechanical, Pentacycle was probably fine with it because aside from Lopez, he also had much rarer pick Reinhart Janse van Rensburg (2 teams), who moved into the overall title. Add the popular Cancellara, as well as >50 points from each of the rare Vakoc (7 teams), Van der Sande (2 teams) and Wisniowski (2 teams), and that's quite a planetary alignment for Pentacycle's team. laarsland almost deserves a prize for 'best team not on an unfathomable hot streak' for points from Cancellara, Sean De Bie (2 teams) and Mareczko (unique pick). Looking further down, StephenC2020 got some good additional points from Simon Clarke (8 teams), al_pacino is one of only 4 teams with already-in-profit Andrea Fedi, and the_fool_on_the_hill had the rare neo-pro combo of Nils Pollitt (3 teams) and Tom Bohli (8 teams).

This week's high movers

Rank Team Up/down
1 al_pacino (+28)
2 Amsterdam (+23)
2 vernakular (+23)
4 the_fool_on_the_hill (+22)
4 Ruudz0r (+22)

Pentacycle couldn't top this one, as his team only had 8 more spots to move up. In a tightly bunched points week, al_pacino made the best gain at 28 places, while Amsterdam and vernakular had some pretty good jumps too.

Green Jersey

Rank Team Total
1 Pentacycle 90
2 Nicosix 72
3 karaev 70
4 comodoro 65
5 shalgo 64

Well, yep - 45 points for 1st place 2 weeks in a row will get you to the top of the week 8 leaderboard of this competition, for sure! First week of the season winner comodoro re-emerges to finish top 10 this week, giving them enough points to move into the overall top 5 of this competition. Others in the top 5 didn't score this week.

Polka Dot Jersey

Rank Team Points
1 the_fool_on_the_hill 33
2 Schleckamagurky 32
3 LosBrolin 30
4 freshman 27
5 MADRAZO 26

There's a new leader! the_fool_on_the_hill impressively finishes a second week in a row in the top 5 high movers list (2nd last week, tied for 4th this week), which must be a rare feat indeed. The points earned this week is enough to move them to the top of this competition. Of the other top 5, freshman scores 2 points for 10th on the week to break the several-ways deadlock of teams that got 25 points for winning a week of high movement, and ensuring that one week isn't enough to get you into the top 5 anymore.

Top 10 overall

Rank Up/down Team Points
1 (+8) Pentacycle 2887
2 (+3) StephenC2020 2732
3 (-2) Nicosix 2680
4 (-) skidmark 2586
5 (+1) karaev 2585
6 (-3) togo95 2527
7 (-) Ruvu75 2525
8 (-) The_Instigator 2523
9 (-7) shalgo 2513
10 (+3) asdfgh101 2478

You had to see that coming, right? I mean, if you vault halfway up the table into 9th and then destroy everyone by even more the next week, there's no way you're not taking top spot. Pentacycle continues the impressive run and is now over 150 points up on 2nd place. Can he keep it up through Paris-Nice? Obviously there are a lot of points to be awarded for a WT race, but on the other hand the other teams need to have good GC contenders, and a quick look through the startlist shows that the main GC contenders are pretty rarely picked, if at all. We shall see!

Only one move in/out of the top 10 - asdfgh101 and jeroenk switch places, between 10th and 13th.
