They both look like great picks, a shame I have neither. But I am happy they are doing good anyway, as they are among the ones I like.

I guess a lot of people are regretting not picking Stuyven right now (myself included), but still glad to see him doing well; but hopefully he doesn't win again :p

My week did not go very well: Vichot 3rd in Drome Classic, besides that only minor points for Arredondo, Demare and Craddock :( and Ruffoni was horribly disappointing in Langkawi (I write was because he abandoned today)

What is happening to Ruffoni? He isn't looking good at all this year, bar 2 top 10s at Valencia.

Vakoc, Stuyven, Vichot, Wisniowski, A. Yates on my team :D
If only Langkawi would end today with v. Rensburg and Superman as 1-2 in GC, it could've been a 1000 point week...

how did you manage to get all those into your team? :D

While I have Vakoc & Vichot, my biggest regret is leaving out Lopez by skipping all riders from Katusha and Astana

I had Vakoc and Stuyven last year. This year I opted to let them go, because they didn't even made a profit last year. What a shame. I'll never learn how to play this game. This year is turning out to be my worst, it's a disaster so far.

Here's my week:

Provence - Gaviria 30 points, Craddock 21. Not bad, Gaviria gets back into form; Craddock was in a logjam with the same time as lots of guys, and 21 points isn't lots, but it's encouraging that he was at the pointy end of both of his last two races. Consistency has been his problem his first two pro years so that's encouraging.

Langkawi - Lopez 41 points, Goss... haha just kidding. Lopez doing as expected - I know he's good, but holy crap he got 30 seconds on the field in a power climb! That's nuts! I can't wait to see what the rest of his year will be like in WT events.

Sud Ardeche & Drome - Vichot 5 & 40. Vichot keeps going well, I'm happy to see him pick up some more points, it will be interesting to see how he goes in Paris-Nice.

Het Niewsblad & KBK - Petit 42 & 15, Stuyven 30 & 140, Demare 22. Obviously Stuyven pays off. That was better than I expected, I thought he might be a foil in DDV or a race like that, to pick up his own results so early bodes well. Petit may have only gotten two minor placings, but made more this weekend than all of last year, so that's good. Demare is worrying, but he's got plenty of time for points still.

Lugano - Kudus 5 points. Didn't really have anyone else in the race so okay.

391 points, pretty decent to keep my head above water, but I'm sure some other teams raked in a few more this week. Having Lopez in prime position to collect GC points barring a crash is a good way to start next week too.

Lopez, Vakoc, Stuyven, Petit and Craddock... all 5 of them early scratches from my long list as I was sure they won't get enough opportunities to score enough points. Yeah... about that...

At least I hade Demare, Senechal, Tom Van Asbroeck and Kudus score minor points.
Best part of the week: The races itself. I love cobbles!

Another thin week, with only Stuyven scoring major points and Gaviria, Demare and Lopez joining in with some too. Velits picks up 3 points to turn a profit :D

It seems my entire CQ team is riding Tirreno - Adriatico, so I'm sure there are better days coming up soon.

Week 7: Pentacycle uses leap year day to leap over pretty much everyone

Well, from a racing fan perspective, we got to see some exciting action on the cobbles this week, as well as several races in France, an HC race in Switzerland, and the continuation of Langkawi. From a game perspective, this has meant that many somewhat popular and rare riders scored big this week, so there was a wide range of scores. Stuyven (38 teams) and Vakoc (7 teams) were the biggest scorers, but a lot of riders picked up some handy points.

This week's top scorers

Rank Team Points this week
1 Pentacycle 732
2 Roubaix 544
3 greenedge 475
4 scrooll07 472
5 Nicosix 419

That is not a misprint. Former champion Pentacycle claims the week by almost two hundred points. That's 35% more than the next highest scorer Roubaix, who in turn was a fair bit above third place greenedge. Pentacycle not only had the winning combo of Vakoc and Stuyven (who together scored 420 points and so would get a team in the top 5), but also solid points from Adam Yates, Lopez, Vichot and Wisniowski (all over 40 points), and Janse Van Rensburg (with more to come evidently) and Gaviria at 30, and a handful of guys getting smaller points. Impressive! Roubaix rode that same combo of Vakoc/Stuyven while greenedge took the harder route, getting points from Rowe/Gougeard/Yates/Lopez on top of Stuyven's haul. Check out #5 Nicosix, who was already on the overall podium going into the week.

This week's high movers

Team Up/down
Pentacycle (+65)
the_fool_on_the_hill (+42)
LosBrolin (+40)
greenedge (+35)
snccdcno (+32)

Uh, yeah, no contest here either. I would tell you where Pentacycle jumped from and to, but - spoiler alert - you'll find that out later in the update. Interestingly, three of the top 5 high movers were outside the top 10 weekly scorers, which goes to show that in a tight week for points, moving up a bunch is all about where you start on the table.

Green Jersey

Rank Team Total
1 Nicosix 72
2 karaev 70
3 shalgo 64
4 Hugo87 59
5 togo95 58

Nicosix rips the top spot away from karaev with 5th place points this week. shalgo jumps into the top 5 with 14 points for 9th place on the week.

Polka Dot Jersey

Rank Team Points
1 Schleckamagurky 32
2 LosBrolin 30
3 MADRAZO 26
4 Pentacycle 25
4 Team_X 25
4 del1962 25
4 karaev 25
4 ironted 25
4 freshman 25

Los Brolin scores some points for the second time this season and leapfrogs the pack tied for 4th, all of whom 'won' a week and got 25 points. It's not enough to take Schleckamagurky out of the top spot for this competition though.

Top 10 overall

Rank Up/down Team Points
1 (+2) Nicosix 2472
2 (+5) shalgo 2359
3 (-1) togo95 2337
4 (+4) skidmark 2333
5 (+4) StephenC2020 2323
6 (-5) karaev 2287
7 (+6) Ruvu75 2280
8 (+4) The_Instigator 2273
9 (+65) Pentacycle 2257
10 (+14) jeroenk 2171

Whoa. Look at that 'up/down' column. A bit of movement to say the least. Pentacycle has gotten enough attention this week so we'll just leave that jump from 74-9 where it is, and focus on our new leader Nicosix! karaev couldn't hold it after a few week's reign and tumbles to 6th place. Nicosix has gotten a good mix of points from the popular picks, some nice relatively rare picks in Stuyven, Vichot, Petit and Navarro, and some promising returns from rare picks Coppel and Benoot. Once Kwiatkowski gets going this team may have some legs. Elsewhere, shalgo quietly sneaks into the top 2 and most of the movement in the top 10 is in the upwards direction. This means that Ruvu75, The_Instigator, Pentacyle and jeroenk leap into the top 10, asdfgh101, Ferminal, Hugo87 and trackstand fall out. I recommend scrolling through the whole rankings, there's a ton of movement. Jancouver certainly wins this week's bridesmaid award, as their team is 1 point out of the top 5 point getters for the week, and 3 points out of the top 5 overall for the green jersey competition, and 15 points out of the top 10 overall. At least you got a mention for not getting a mention!

Thanks for the update and for mentioning my name. I was hoping to pull a Zubeldia and sneak into the top 10 without anyone noticing :)

Well, I had a solid week and moved up 4 places. Here's this week:

Ongoing - Langkawi

Obviously Lopez's mistimed mechanical was a bummer, but he's still in 3rd and will clearly rake points this season barring injury. Of course I just said last night he'd get points this race 'barring crash' and then he had a mechanical, so maybe I'm jinxing him.

Le Samyn

Vervaeke
Meersman
Bauhaus

On paper this should be one for Meersman, but he's looked poor this season so far. This is the kind of race where a youngster who is fast but doesn't pick up many wins gets something, so I won't count Bauhaus out.

West Vlaanderen

Vervaeke
Meersman

Well, I dunno. Same deal, Meersman could contend for stages. This doesn't seem like Vervaeke's bag, though I'd love to be surprised. More likely he falls and hurts himself on cobbles than gets top 10 though.

Strade Bianche

Tony Martin
Phinney
Grosu
Cancellara
Stuyven

Well, Canc is an obvious favourite. Stuyven's form looks great. I'm not sold on the Tony Martin cobbles experiment, but this race could be better for him. Phinney nope, and Grosu I doubt (although he did ok in some italian hilly classics last fall).

Paris-Nice (incomplete)

Craddock
Talansky
Chavanel
Petit
Kittel
Demare
Vichot
Enger
Valgren

Talansky could feature; it may be a bit hard for the likes of Vichot and Chavanel, but I could also see both being in the top 10. Obviously Kittel for the flats, and I'd love if Craddock surprised.

Completely stunned to see my name in the top of the ranking!

Hope I can stay there but this week is going to be difficult having nobody in Langkawi
