Interestingly Ewan should have been eliminated yesterday, the cut off in the rule book was 20% which I believe means you had to be within 3"48 of Boom. Ewan finished 3"57

It's not the first time,Ewan has shown a lack of respect for the ITT - He can do better in this discipline.

Anything longer than say 1.5km prologue and he doesn't want to know ! This attitude may come back to bite him right in the gluteus maximus in future when more than 1 GT per year includes a TTT and he ends up missing selection due to his lack of application/interest.

Apparently he had mechanical issues, so it's not for lack of trying.

FWIW it was mentioned on commentary today that the cut off was amended at the pre-race meeting after some DSs expressed concern and that Ewan was inside the revised cut off

You do know that Ewan had mechanical problems on the first half of the course and ended up stopping for a bike change don't you?

So he lost 2-3 minutes?

What's the betting on a Dan Martin attack near the top of Cleeve Hill only to be reeled in by the bunch 300 yards after the summit?!

My post is referring to Ewan's history with ITT - He can do a good to very good prologue up to 5km but any longer he loses interest - Orica won't send Ewan to a GT which has a TTT - It's up to Ewan.

It was lack of trying as well, he was in the live pictures and I dont really remember someone having such a bad ITT style as Ewan had in that ITT.

Yes, other than prologues of little more than 1-2kms; his general modus operandi with any TT is to skate as close to the time cut as possible without getting sprung/almost always in the the botton 2-3 of the time-sheet. Its going to bit him one of these days when he does it at a WT race where they are more likely to enforce than at a lower tier where they may be more discretional with "name" riders.

Another sprint finish. Was hoping the Cotswolds will have given us a puncheur win. Not to be. The ITT has decided the Tour alright. Well done Lars Boom

The Tour of Britain has certainly dropped a brick with the parcours this year. It's not helped by the fact that they avoid Yorkshire these days altogether because of the TdY. That limits the no of hills they can use but certainly they can design a more testing route than this procession.

Plenty of hills outside of Yorkshire though, put a finish on top of Honister pass (there should be infrastructure up there) or even in Kewsick after going up Honister and Newlands.

You'd have something similar to the Arctic Tour of Norway, at least, if you held it in the Highlands.

quite funny when you open up a news site and read "Groenewegen wins queen stage Tour of Britian".

What a bs race. 7 sprints and a TT?

This year, yeah. But quite a few past editions have been really fun, and the terrain is certainly there. It's better to just forget completely about this year. It won't be particular hard.

I am British and have barely bothered with ToB this year given its utterly useless parcours. The Tour De Yorkshire is 100 times the race that the Tour of Britain is yet the short sighted bosses of British Cycling would not let them expand to 4 days.

Yup, I haven't watched any of this year's race, and previously, I've often ridden out to the Peak District to see it and followed the race all week.

Talking of Yorkshire, I remember seeing a brilliant up and down ToB stage from 2006, finishing in the centre of Sheffield. A very young Andy Schleck made the final selection, Tom Boonen crashed out (where loads of local riders crash, on the road where Serge Pauwels made his winning move in this year's TdY, travelling the opposite way), before Pippo soloed home...

His Milan-San Remo win earlier that season was probably much easier!

Kristoff will come 4th today to attain the mystical and elusive 4 4's in a stage race.

what a joke of a race, we already have a world champ event for TT's...we didnt need 8 days for a single TT to be the only deciding factor of a stage race

Bizarrely, it would have been better had the organisers just gone for 8 sprint stages. That just shows how not very well thought out this was. Have the organisers tried to answer any of the criticism?

Just left the area where I live and it's very windy here, no surprise to see Movistar and Sky forcing a hard tempo on the front,

How far from the finish are they?
