It clearly wasn’t a parcours for bigger, heavier riders like Ganna and WvA. With regards to riding the tour: if the current top 5 rode the tour, they would probably still have been top 5.

Funny how usually we would talk about how brutal it is for Ganna to lose a medal by such a small margin, but now he is only 5th and it feels like he isn't even that unlucky.

Good question, I'm not sure what he's normally like off only training.

And to be fair to you, Dennis, Dumoulin and Roglic are all guys who are able to get to seriously good form off the back of well structured training over racing. WvA was running on fumes after the TDF
