Yes, it's more likely than not that he will have 600+ after just 11 race days. Assuming he avoids any injuries, difficult to see anyone winning without him this year?

The rest of my team continue the general trend of mediocrity:

Poole - Fanboy pick that doesn't look like working out unless he starts doing some one-day races. Chose someone in the wrong year of their development, again.

Vauquelin - Just confirming that he isn't a WT GC rider. Hopefully, Arkea will alter his schedule accordingly, but unlikely given the composition of their team.

D.Martinez - refusing to believe just yet, that he's going to disappear for the rest of the season?
Ayuso looking very good atm. Hope it continues.

I also have Poole and would not give up on him just yet. Last season he missed time and didnt race again until Tour of the Alps, where he finished 11th. Right now he has already scored points in UAE Tour (7th overall) and has a good chance at scoring some points in T-A. Decent chance he picks up 50-70 points, at least. He is also doing the Giro and probably not in the best form yet. I am not that worried about him right now as he is scoring. He is not nowhere. With a good Giro he could possibly be into profit.

Vauquelin is 9th right now in T-A and he already has 185 points to his name this season. I am not really understanding the pessimism and if I would have picked him would be feeling quite good about it. (I am more worried about my guy Sheffield. He should have scored more points in Algarve and not necessarily here in T-A. Misfortune have struck him a few times already with a couple of crashes. Hope he can have a big day in some race after this.)

Martinez, who is quite popular, is close to being into profit. He also crashed in SB, which might explain a slight dip in performance here. No pick will score in every race either. Hopefully he will bounce back in the next race he starts and not go missing for the rest of the year.

This doesn't apply to Roglic in 2023.
I think it was pretty clear it was meant in general as a rule of thumb.... not exceptions to the rule, which is rare. Thats also kind of the point of the game, to find those picks that may do that. Someone like Ayuso was definitely among those candidates going into the season. Roglic, Remco and so on in years prior.

I think Poole still looks like a great pick. He's at the level where he doesn't have to be much better to score a lot more points.

Have sort of regretted picking Vauquelin as I forgot Barguil had left and he was therefore likely to be riding a lot more WT races than I anticipated. He doesn't look anywhere near a GC rider at that level yet, probably won't be, and so am hoping for a much more mixed calendar in the second half of the season once Arkea realise this. Haven't given up on him yet. And came really close to picking Sheffield instead. So much bad luck so far, but this is only his second race and seems to be getting stronger. In the end, I think it's likely that he'll have a more suitable schedule than Vauquelin and so end up being the better pick..

And thanks also for the comments about Martinez. Had completely forgotten about his crash at Strade affecting his performance here:rolleyes:

It seems like there's an issue with the website @Shakes (well two because I'm not in first but I think I'll blame @shalgo stupidly good team for that one). The graph for position over time is broken (at least for me) and like I said I want to see my team drop in real time. Hopefully it's not too much work to sort that one out. Either way thanks for taking the time to set up the site.

Thanks for warning me!

Optimized back end to make it run faster last friday. Have messed up something there.. will try to fix tonight when behind desk.

Not sure how easy it would be to track on the spreadsheet but it would be fun as a side competition to see who is the first in the year to have all their riders score at least 1 point.
Fuglsang has 5 points for finishing P-N, so @search gets the Ingsve trophy.

Next minor category, first to have half a team in profit? (should we insist on 17 riders, or allow half a team for those who have fewer than 33?) 6 teams on 7 as of this morning.

Could be a big week coming up, with many points up for grabs in these races.

Paris-Nice
MOSCON Gianni
BERNAL Egan
TARLING Joshua
TURNER Ben
PLAPP Luke
WRIGHT Fred
PICCOLO Andrea
LEEMREIZE Gijs
MIHKELS Madis

Tirreno-Adriatico
SHEFFIELD Magnus
ARENSMAN Thymen
GIRMAY Biniam
AYUSO Juan
DEL TORO Isaac
TIBERI Antonio
CARAPAZ Richard
MARTÍNEZ Daniel Felipe
CAPIOT Amaury
POOLE Max (added)
Pretty good. Bernal into profit. Plapp very close to profit.

Ayuso, Del Toro and Arensman looking good.

Sheffield climbed well on Monte Pedrano and moved up to 16th in the end. Not bad.

Hoped for more with Tiberi but maybe needed a race after Andalucia getting cancelled. Looking good in the ITTs so far.

Downer was Poole. Bound to happen to some rider each year on the roster... but it still sucks.

All-in-all a pretty good week despite it. Will probably stay in the top 10, I think. Have to be happy with that.

I'm getting Roglic flashbacks. If not for Ayuso scoring huge numbers for a lot of teams, my haul this week would have been really great.
Doesn't matter. Nobody's catching shalgo this year. Their team was at 3500 points at the start of the week and it will add like another 1k between Ayuso, Del Toro, Plapp, Bernal and Arensman.

The most points anybody has ever had in the post-MSR update is 3939. Shalgo will smash that with a week to spare. GG, see you next year.

Okay, I trust you.

skidmark, when will you have the 2025 thread up?

Just looking at shalgos team... the big lead right now are down to young riders like Fisher-Black, Le Cerf, Piganzoli and Segaert among others scoring many points who all are relatively rare. Kudos to have been able to fit in all of those. However, the question is if those riders can keep it up over the year. It has been easier for those to score in the earlier races. Depending on their schedule and if they can keep the consistency, it might become harder for them to score points or it will prove to be a winning combination.

And of course shalgo not missing riders like Ayuso, Del Toro, Plapp, Bernal, Arensman, Martinez, Morgado and so on.

Comparing my own team with shalgo and where Im at in the game currently, I wont concede just yet. Not with riders like Sheffield, Tarling, Tiberi, Poole ( :( ) and Hagenes among others. Neither on shalgos team.

Fair enough and all good points. Worth noting too that no team in the lead after MSR has held on to win the game so historically speaking there's no reason to believe it's over yet. It's just hard to see how anyone would close that gap right now.

Ayuso with a shitton of points in Tirreno, despite not even looking like the second best.
679 after 12 race days! But beware fellow Ayuso pickers as he's on my Tutankhamun team.

Poole, Carapaz out indefinitely, joining Johannessen and Louvel. Pretty much a third of my point allowance and all riders I was interested in following. No doubt Juan will be the only one to catch an extreme form of measles whilst altitude training over the next three weeks.

Great, now you have jinxed me. I can expect all of my riders to crash out of their next races.

I was strongly considering DNFing after my team's performance this week made me too depressed, but if we decide to end the game early I won't have to.
