By the way, I was going through some teams and saw a rider named Idar Andersen who seemed like a very good prospect in '21 and '22 but almost didn't race last year. That got me curious, as I don't recall having seen his name before. Can anyone tell me a bit about him?

This is crap... and has a huge impact on this game.

He was really likely to give 300 additional points to his owners in the end of the TDU. It´s like when your rider is in fourth position at the end of the TDF and crashes out on the last day.. damn

Despite Plapp not being on my team, I feel sorry for him. He honestly had a good shot at winning the whole thing, as he seemed like the strongest uphill even though we haven't seen a proper climb yet and Del Toro might just smoke everyone when the road goes uphill.

Just sad to start this early with a deficit. Hoped to counter the inevitable Del Torro points haul with Plappy. Guess I'll have to put my faith into Archie Ryan, though he was also picked by many.

Pretty disappointed for Plapp, and for my team hopes ... that's most likely a 3 figure points haul gone. Minor compensation today with Fretin picking up his first points. I picked him, hoping that he'd farm place points in sprints throughout the season and maybe even improve and strengthen enough to sneak a win somewhere. At least I still have Del Toro ... maybe Morgado, Ryan and Alaphilippe will score this weekend.

TDU will come to a close this weekend and even with Plapp DNS it is looking quite decent so far with other riders for me. Maybe a few can score in the one-day races that are left as well.

Some Spanish races are also coming up this weekend and during next week.

Clàssica Comunitat Valenciana 1969 - Gran Premio V
CHRISTEN Jan
WALLS Matthew
CAPIOT Amaury

Ruta de la Cerámica - Gran Premio Castellón
CHRISTEN Jan
CAPIOT Amaury

Mallorca races
BUSATTO Francesco
VANDENABEELE Henri
LAMPERTI Luke
MOSCON Gianni
CHRISTEN Jan
HODEG Álvaro José

I am pretty eager to see how the likes of Busatto, Lamperti and Christen starts their season.

Hodeg will probably only fly in to maybe ride Trofeo Palma, next weekend, I am assuming. He is in Australia right now.

Just noticed Valenciana 1969 is today. Walls, Capiot, Milesi, Romo, Söderqvist.
Maybe Walls and Capiot can get a few points.

edit: ah, it's tomorrow, not today.

Team plans for the upcoming week: You go to Mallorca! And you go to Mallorca! Everyone goes to Mallorca!

Arnaud Démare
Vincenzo Albanese
Stefano Oldani
Francesco Busatto
Luke Lamperti
Gianni Moscon
Paul Magnier
Mauri Vansevenant
Antonio Pedrero
Alberto Dainese
Igor Arrieta
Jan Christen

Also have Arrieta, Christen, Oldani and Capiot in action at both one-dayers this weekend, but given the routes and team selections I don't expect much there.

impressed by him, looked at him but wasn't sure if he will be sprinter for Alpecin or leadout. Looks like a steal now
I really only counted on him doing stuff in some small classics that Alpecin rides a lot of. They have so many quick guys that you never know who is going to sprint and who is going to lead-out, except Philipsen and Groves, so it's a really good sign that Boven is their main sprinter for TdU.

Plapp and Battistella crashed out for me...jinxed riders
Same double-whammy here. Just waiting for Simmon's beard to catch fire in the Australian sun now.

Quite a few of my rare picks in the two one-day races over the weekend, but I don't know anything about the parcours?

Vliegen
Oldani
Gachignard
Charmig
Capiot
Walls

And now Jake Stewart got an knee injury sidelining him for three weeks, likely missing a big portion of the races he was supposed to get leadership role in.... oh my days....

Just looked at the points categories and there are some really bizarre categorisations such as TDU being in a higher bracket than Catalunya and Itzulia which are both part of the traditional big 7 one week stage races and Hamburg higher than Strade Bianchi.
