Jegat is a curious pick. Do you really think he has much upside in him after 2024? To me, he doesn't really look like a rider I would ever expect to break into 700-800's (minimum to be a viable pick from a price of 453), let alone higher, but I may be wrong.
I know very little about him. It's the way he rode in the few races I saw that made me pick him. It's one of those riders where I don't expect much, a bit of a gamble. But from his results I think he's not at his peak yet. First tour, finished 28th. 2nd in Tour of Jura. Five top tens in September. A late bloomer.

Bit disappointed by my TDU showing. I had a weak team, so my expectations weren't high, but I had some hope that Nerurkar would do well here. It was the perfect race for him to perform and rack in some GC points, but he failed big time. He did have a crash on stage 3 (or 2? I don't remember), which could explain his performance - at least I hope so.
He expressed disappointment himself that when it came to the key climb on stage 3, he didn't feel great and couldn't do as well as he'd hoped.

Not the best of starts. Lost 41 seconds on the first stage of AlUla Tour.

I assume some of us are now starting to regret inviting Jakobsen to our picnics.
The way he talked about changing his training to train more as a cyclist than a pure sprinter is not likely to make him a speed demon in this type of finish. The payback will more likely come in slightly harder races if he can be there at the end where he last year got dropped. Hopefully his calendar accommodates that.

Update #1: DJ Sprtsch gets off the blocks on top

Well, it's a new game, new year, and a new set of written updates that start now! Since CQ has not released a download after the Aussie Nationals either last or this year, the first update waits until after the TDU, which is now late enough in January that there are a couple of Spanish races that sneak in there as well. Anyway, a lot of the highest scorers in TDU were rare or non-picks, so there's a wide variety of scores at this point.

This Week's Top Scorers / Top 10 Overall
RankUp/downTeamPoints
1(-)DJ Sprtsch929
2(-1)Jakob747776
3(-2)the asian731
4(-3)Object694
5(-4)Gotland650
6(-5)Salvarani612
7(-6)skidmark590
8(-7)marksi570
9(-8)Lortnoc548

DJ Sprtsch gets off to a fantastic start, already within sniffing distance of 1000 points. A big part of this is thanks to unique pick Jhonathan Narvaez, who wastes no time on his new team and wins the TDU, scoring 390 points along the way. Luke Plapp (230 points, 20 teams) continues his hot streak in Australia these last few years, winning the nats TT, getting second in the RR, and 6th overall at TDU. Jay Vine (120, 11), Thomas Gloag (97, 62), and Albert Philipsen (40, 72) also are notable for DJ Sprtsch's team.

Some game mainstays make up the rest of the podium and top 10; Jakob747 ends up in 2nd with 776 points thanks largely to Plapp, Finn Fischer-Black (199, 2) and Oscar Onley (164. 2), and the asian is the only other team to clear 700 and nets third with Plapp, Vine and Sam Welsford (207, 11).

This week's High Movers are all moving down from a tie for first, so that chart is unnecessary to display, and the Green Jersey points order is the same as the top overall. I noticed a few glitches in the spreadsheet (on the weekly tab especially) that I'll try to fix by next week, but we are off the blocks!

Next week sees the AlUla Tour, the Mallorca Challenge races, GP Marseillaise, and the Surf Coast/Cadel Race duo.

Even if he has raised level in harder terrain, which remains to be seen, 11th place was definitely not what he and his team were riding for today. He would of course have had to finish in the top 4 to get any points, and Groenewegen didn't achieve that either, so all hope is not lost yet, but it isn't exactly a great sign.

So, errr... @skidmark... I'm guessing we're not gonna do anything when it comes to budget regarding... this:

Not gonna make a difference for me - I think - but would be a bit harsh to say that Rakim is above budget for... not being able to predict the future.

Don't you have him in one of the ERG games as well?

Surely Price Pejtersen shouldn't have been listed at 64 points though. If he now has 70 points for winning the Danish TT title, then presumably he should have had 42 before that for being second in that event, so his 2024 points would have been 106.

But Rakim (or anyone else) shouldn't have to verify the cost of every rider, and the CQ download should be definitive, even if wrong.

So how would it have come about that CQ had him as zero for that event? Was he disqualified as well and reinstated today? Or did CQ withhold all points from that event knowing that the result was in question? Or what?

Are there rules about what happens if a guy who'd originally been disqualified from a win, but then got that win re-instated after a new game has started, thus making his cost technically higher than it was when everyone build their teams?
That situation is completely irrelevant, because the rules say that the CQ scores on the 31st of December are the basis for the cost of the riders.
