6th in Amstel Gold Race is by far his best result in the Ardennes so far. I have a feeling he could have stayed with Healy and Pidcock if he managed to be in the front group, he looked in one of his (rare) good days like Montreal 2022.

Let's see whether he can deliver in what was always supposed to be his race, Fleche Wallonne, or Huy will prove again too hard for him.

In the end he was nowhere.
I have the impression that positioning is actually one of his weaknesses. Was too far behind to respond to the move in Amstel (according to himself) and was caught behind in FW. On the final kms before Huy you see Van Wilder looking around, then talking at the radio and then shaking his head frustrated. His bike handling skills are also not the greatest.

Positioning and bike handling skills can improve.

He seems to have the talent and that might be the most important thing. Crashes and injuries has delayed him a bit, but lets see if he can progress this year. Still more than half of the season left.

Looking good before the WC for a second year in a row. Bennati has yet to announce the Italian roster but I guess after his performance in Wallonie he should be in.

Maybe now I can finally stop mixing him up with Ballerini.

It's terrible. There's no reason. I know.

I thought he would reach this level already in the first couple of seasons among the pros. He was that good as u23 and went pro with what looked like the best possible team to develop his talent at the time.
Quite odd that he finally shows this level now that he's set to leave QS.

Third in Bernocchi, wins Gran Piemonte, second in Lombardia. That's an impressive streak of results. Hopefully more to come in 2024.

The guy beat 2020 Roglic in an uphill Sprint as a neopro, I also expected more from him after his first season. He seems to finally live up to his potential.

Even as an U23 he was inconsistent and showed a fragile health, though. Wouldn't count my chickens with him yet. This season, even if it's his best and most consistent so far, hasn't really been that consistent. But today is definitely his most impressive single race day, and I hope he can become more reliable going forward. He's so rapid that if he's in the picture towards the end of a race, the top riders who normally can count on their sprint need to become creative.

He and Skjelmose looks quite good for the Ardennes type of races. Even Pedersen at a bit easier races. They can really do stuff there
