There is a nutkick button on my laptop..ouch..everytime I look up I get smeared with bromance sauce and a Botany beat down. Lance is like the rest..rockstars,actors, athletes..give them money with the brain of a 18-21 yo and they make mistakes. Maintain hatestate 10 waiting for Lance to stumble is just to much for me..the guy is doing the best he can with what he's got..I hope one of you clods types in that Lance should go down and turn himself in to Novitzky." I am glad you only found out about the bikes and the EPO..I was also filling disc wheels with coke!! Take all my money..my kids can get free Nikes so they won't want for shoes or yellow tshirts..I just want to go back to Texas"..the PR firm will probably suggest this to him. Lance probably texts one of his mistresses while his kids open their Christmas gifts..just wishing it would be over..he tells kids in hospital beds not to touch him because of the germs..this guy makes Hitler look like Mr.Rogers..pure evil..I am wrong..go ahead Botany I just put my cup on...

Just the right tone.
A lot of seriousness in this thread...FF just knocked it back a notch.
Much as I agree that LA has a come-uppance due,
We ALL will suffer the blowback, not just the Cancer victims.

Was contacted by my hosting company who had a request to suspend my services, followed up by polite but to the point email to me.

Who was it that said "those with nothing to fear have nothing to hide"? ;)

Geez. Well, the best thing to do when someone tells you to shut up is to publish the communication where they tell you to shut up. Can you determine who made the request to suspend?

Not yet, my hosting company ask for all complaints and requests like that to be submitted in writing so as soon as / if that happens we'll know who it was. As for email it came from a Googlemail account so could have been anyone, it's not like I've been keeping my email address secret.

It sounds quite familiar to this story - where hits to their site died shortly after a vist from Capital Sports Entertainment.

I just read the Livestrong reply on that blog - it mentions Livestrong 10 times.... even though the charity is the LAF.

The responce that Ethan received only included these number:
As of January 2011, LIVESTRONG has invested more than $104 million in education and programs, $65 million in grants and awards and $33 million in advocacy and engagement.
....why is it the LAF won't give a breakdown of what constitutes "programs", "advocacy","engagement" and "grants"?

I hope to have a member of LAF staff on record with a breakdown of the numbers very soon. I'll be discussing my figures with them and seeing if they would be willing to provide a more detailed itemisation of expenses to clarify some of the discrepancies.

OF course I'll probably just get a LAF'er on record as saying no comment. But I can try.

Great.

I hope for their own sake they can give an honest and open reply and drop the corporate speak - it is the public who donate to charities and they should be the ones to judge which charity deserves its hard earned cash.

Just off the top of my head

programs=LA program to enhance his career in cycling & hollywood most definitely includes some varying degrees of chemical enhancement.

advocacy= as in "I advocate that i become the most recognizable name on the planet (see program above)

engagement=any chick younger than Sheryl Crow will do, lets start with some strippers & hookers!!!!

grant=once i achieve my above objectives and become the world's first non celibate POPE i might "grant" my humble servants an audience....

I’m sorry to interrupt your self-congratulatory back-slapping but it seems to me a lot of you are missing the point. It is not just about “getting out there and doing something”, what you are doing has to DO something otherwise you are just wasting your own time and the money that you are raising, which is also unfair on the people who make donations to you. You must not lose track of why you are “doing something”. Is it a) to make yourself feel better that you are giving something back, helping to fight the disease that you/your loved one was lucky to survive, or in their memory, i.e. a selfish reason? Or is it b) to actually make a substantive effort to help fight the disease? If b) (which is the only valid reason), you have a responsibility to ensure that your effort is going to help fight the disease. You therefore have a responsibility to ensure that the charity you are raising money for will use those funds responsibly and legitimately. Ask yourselves, really ask yourselves, why you are “doing something”, and are you “doing something” in the best way you can. And that includes thinking seriously about the charity you are raising funds for, and not just believing the spin you are fed.

I can find no evidence of Lance having contributed that amount beyond a mention in the annual propaganda claiming that the Lance Armstrong Family has made a sizeable enough donation to be a member of the "Founding Circle".

Worth remembering that it's a pretty smart tax dodge to set up your own Charity, donate large amounts to the Charity for the tax relief and then claim back "expenses" equal to more than you have donated.

Would be very interesting to know if this donation was in cash or just the transfer of stocks - like the Demand Media stock option. Surely they wouldn't count THAT as a donation... would they?

Most of that money did not come from lance but a Donor who gave in the name of the Armstrong Family foundation.
