The Cat Thread

Page 38 - Get up to date with the latest news, scores & standings from the Cycling News Community.
The people who had been living in the apt next to my husband (in Durham) moved out and left the cat they had just gotten maybe 2 or 3 months ago. We can't take it. Pet limit there is 2 which is what we have. It was knocking on his door, so he did give it some food. Feel bad for this poor cat.

delgados,

I had barn cats as a kid because we lived in the woods on the edge of a meadow so the cats kept the mice out of the house, but they were not pets, nor did they care to be. When my wife and I first cohabitated, she had an 18 year old cat that was just a big old cuddle monster so he gave me an entirely different perspective on cats. He lived to be 23! We've since had three other cats that have past (two last year), and now have a new kitten/yearling that was a neighborhood stray.

Have a mesh over metal outside door near the street.. Flies and bugs can get through but otherwise it's just see though..2 stray dogs outside and my 2 dogs both pretty big involved in a big dog on dog argument.. Went out to see what all the noise is about.. Cat, less than 10 pounds came out also.. argument is over in @5 seconds.. Cat hissed at all dogs involved and all ran away..2 down the street and my dogs into the back patio as if struck by lightning..3rd,4 th time a cat has settled a multi dog mealy

FWIW, this is the way to go as far as litter goes -

Been using it for years, works great for feral/strays as it gives that 'outdoor' sense to them. Plus the best odor control and so economic.

I wonder if this would be okay to use as bedding for my fancy mice, if I mixed it up with some of the cushier paper bedding I don't see why it wouldn't...

Anyhoo, only $8 for 40 pounds of these pellets is a steal!

Several years ago I tried a variety of wood/paper pellet type litters, but one of the cats we had at the time would not touch it (I guess it felt 'wrong' to her feet). I should try with the cat we have now though.

If there is some hesitancy you could try adding this to the pellets -

It seems to be quite effective for 'luring' the cats into the box
If there wasn't any hesitation before there is now - are you trying to lure cats to my fancy mice? My mice's vision is already so poor, this is not fair! :joycat:

But seriously, I realize I'm the lone rodent girl in this thread and you probably meant to reply to jmd. But I like kitties too and whatever they use I might be able to use on my mice. So it's all good.
