The way he's diminished (that's me being nice) to everyone but Julich and Ms. Cound, it seems unlikely. Is there a "hidden Froome" thehog isn't posting? Post a reference or two.

This book should be in the discount bin soon. I can't wait!

Dropping my stem this weekend and expecting +20 watts.

His belief in himself was insane - based on absolutely nothing.

These training numbers are curious - bilharzia used to disappear in training and appear when racing...

Also it shows froome has no understanding of training. As Merckx index once pointed out, training hours do not have absolute correlation with final performance. After a point training can be detrimental even.

Froome seems to think that it he can tell stories which make him out to train more than anyone that would explain his wins, as if the person who wins the tour is always the guy who trained the most.

It's worked for cyclists before and there will be plenty of people who believe it. Just win another TdF and it all makes perfect sense. (not really)

Based on the book, he's making enemies like Armstrong. This is cycling, the fraud WILL be uncovered.

Does that remind you of anyone? This is why I believe the UCI and ASO are providing a tailwind for Froome/Sky.

IMHO, we will probably have to wait as long and suffer through more "wins" with the UCI defending the fraud before the fraud is revealed. Again.

Even more so when you're crapping in the pool.

Does he mention anything about his feelings going into the Vuelta 2011? Did he think his form was improving and numbers going up etc and he expected something of himself? Or was it a big surprise to him as well?

His numbers were always awesome according to the book.

The book sounds very similar in tone to 'It's not about the bike' even more arrogant in some ways - especially the bits about Contador.

Buried in the thread is an excerpt about the Vuelta, but no actual mention of going from not-quite-zero to hero. Inexplicably discusses **extreme** displays of power yet no mention of a lack of results and the obvious internal frustration that would create. Assuming, of course, he wasn't doping.

Of course, how this power came to appear in his twenties can't possibly be put on paper. Right? If he was laying down the power he claimed, he'd have cleaned up at lower-ranked event and been an obvious grand tour contender. The testing at the UCI would have shown it. But, no.

Its funny. The badzilla only shows up for races.

But you would think that once in a while he would get a badzilla free race and he could show his true Armstrong-esque potential.. but no.

Maybe he has forgotten just how average he was prior to Vuelta '11?

I think badzilla only strikes when the power meter is switched on.

If he had been a super TTer in the mould of Cancellara, Martin, Boardman etc then losing weight and focuing on GTs claiming 'the numbers were also their' would have been much more believeable (although still not genuinely believable!).

You're doing something of an injustice to 'average' there, at least with respect to the pro peloton.

Of course. Do you think I'd read this tripe cover to cover?

Leave that for the Bots
Touch down.

is there anything on how the bradzilla was discovered?

Random thought: there will be a time when porte will not like to play second violin to froome anymore.

Wrt peds: Does anyone know how quickly a gene therapy could kick in?
Jens attack and at least one other poster seemed to be convinced gene doping is spreading in the peloton. Could it explain froomes sudden explosion in 2011?
(Plus, what do we know about gene therapy side effects? Can it turn a nerd into a bully?)

I found the book very entertaining, a nice blend of facts and fiction and written in a satisfyingly provocative manner :) Some seems to take it a bit too seriously (while pretending to take it as a joke). I think I like froomey now more than ever :)

Maybe gene doping is happening.

I suspect that Froome/Sky is a coordinated effort by the UCI to grow cycling once more. So, it could be as simple as an Armstrong deal where he never tests positive. We already have the UCI responding to Froome's twiterring by promising "an investigation."

Peptides are the newest and far better PED than anything that's come before. Do they have oxygen vector inspiring peptides? I don't know. But, recovery doping definitely benefits from peptide advances.

Jens is one of everyone's favourite posters and a human database on climb speeds, but when he talks about what doping they are using he is doing so in a tongue in cheek cartoonish way, not out of experience.
