Cancellara and Richie Porte to stay. I guess Noval, Navarro, Hernandez, and De la Fuente are included, along with mechanic Faustino Munoz, trainer Pepe Marti and maybe a soigneur. Word was that a lot of the SB staff are going to the Luxembourg team.

Who else do you think they should recruit?

I think Linus Gerdemann is jumping ship from Milram and he may bring over a few guys with him. Also with Caisse folding a lot of spanish rides will be on the market.

Gerdemann won't be back at Saxo Bank (and I personally wouldn't like to see him there as well), he's most likely be joining Team Schleck.

With 4-5 Spanish riders arriving at SBS for sure, others than Schleck x 2 and Fuglsang needs to leave before we can talk about other signings...sadly enough.

Riis also announces that Contador aims to win all three GTs in a single year (not next year though). Certainly the ambitions are there.

ETA: The contract with Contador is for 2 years.
Good luck with that AC! As good as you are, that ain't happening...

Cancellara is not definetly staying with the team. The CN article just stated that he has a year left on his contract which is nothing we didn't know.

Richie may stay on for a few more years but I think he will want to look for his own opportunities in the future. People may think these comments are sour grapes on my behalf but it is certainly not meant that way. If you take a look at this quote,

“We are looking on who is leaving and who we will keep,” Riis said,

people have also broken contracts in the past.

Couldn't agree more.

Although I am Swiss, I think BMC are ugly bikes.

Hmm looks like we're aesthetically opposed. I think they're the best looking bikes in the peloton.

well..contador will have a very strong team. however so will have the schleks. contador will not in dreams have a domestique better than frank. to win, he will have to be better than andy. again.lol
what is the thing about people talking about how amazing andy is?by that age, contador already had a tour.lol

he is 2.5 years older and already has 3 tours (it should have been 4) 1 giro, 1 vuelta, some good classic results, 2 or 3 paris nice, the same for pais basco and algarve, etc.

what does andy have? he is unlucky because contador still has 6 years to win everything and 2 more after that to win more paris-nice etc xD

auscyclefan94:

contador is the best cyclist in stage races ever. this year he wasn't at his best. still, look at what he won and look at what the others have won.

Yeah, I'm not going to argue that.

I think you're over-interpreting that statement, the quote IMO amount to a "no comment" or "we'll wait and see" not an implication that contracts will be released. It could happen of cause, but I don't think that quote contains any clues.

Cerberus, people are interpreting it as a statement that he is 100% staying, nothing has really changed in the circumstances to do with the FC deal with any team he may go to.
c&cfan, please don't give me the crap about having 4 tours. You can make circumstancial statements like that all you want but that's all they are anyway.

ok. 3 tours 1 giro 1 vuelta etc etc etc. and he's 27\28 years old. armstrong started to be the best with 27\28. contador already has all that "stuff", he still has at least more 6 years to win, omg. i'm sorry for andy and the others.

fabien cancelara is my fav cyclist. he should go to another team. he deserves to always be the team leader. i wouldn't be surprised if the guy was able to win the tour. (if contador was injured)

Hopefully Riis will have grasped AC's value in other races than the TdF. I like that AC says he will go for other titles in the future and I hope he does get around to that rather than just being polite.

Saxo has done well in other races this year (Breschel, Haedo, Cancellara, Porte), so it could work out that way.

Between them, they might just set a trend for others.

yes he will try other titles. however, if he wins the tour, it isn't because of saxo. saxo will never have a domestique better than frank. for contador to win, he will have to be stronger than frank and andy.

and it is obvious that if frank as a brain, he will at least leave the team to try is luck. no one wants to be number 2.

As long as Frank stays on his bike next year. :D

But schleck may have a bad year next year so he won't be competitive:rolleyes: I guess he always has bad years but comes good into july out of nowhere.

Do you hate footon because of that? Do you hate Skil shimano beccause of that?

I think Footon is pretty awful too, yes. I sorta have a soft spot for Felline and Modolo though, so they're not as bad as BMC in my eyes, which is completely illogical because BMC's line-up is better than Footon's. It doesn't help that all of BMC's stars are people I never had much time for (Ballan, Kroon, Evans... I like Big George but he's past his best). I had high hopes for Kristoff but he's been fairly disappointing this year imho. And as long as Skil have Kamikaze Kenny they'll always have a place in my heart. Also, neither Footon nor Skil get any of the over the top, unfounded hype that BMC do.

+1

You really get the sense that Andy is the new "eternal second". Even more so when he this Tour was close but with that famous trouble, next year will be a very different story.

Modolo team is Colnago, not Footon.
