Buddy absolutely refuses to wear anything, but he is pretty furry so he stays warm enough.
Buddy is so punk rock I love it!

Sweaters aside amongst the many pluses I wasn't even thinking of when I first got her I'm happy Tandy is a shorthair, it means I won't have to give her haircuts like I had to with Tobes. I will still have to bathe her though and I'll have to take her to a salon for nail trims... I just refuse to do it myself because she'll end up hating me. (I tried a few nails but she clearly doesn't like it, so I'll have someone else do the dirty deed.)

We succumbed and got a cordless Dremel which seems more acceptable then the dreaed clippers. Means that it's more often claw time, but no risk of bleeding or other problems.
Kudos you can use a Dremel on your pup, I think Tandy would freak out even more than when I tried nail clippers! :tearsofjoy:

That said I ended up taking Tandy to Petco for the nail trim, it was only $14 (my vet charges $35! :fearscream:) and the groomer was very gentle with her because we're not sure if Tandy has had professional nail trims before. The groomer also threw in a nail buffing for free, again, because Tandy appears to be new to nail beautifying, I thought that was pretty cool, and since Tandy took the nail trimming well I'm definitely going back to this groomer!

I also gave Tandy a bath this week, she wanted to escape from the bathtub and was a little wild afterward, but all in all she didn't behave much differently than Tobes. She was easier to handle though because she's smaller.

Next week Tandy has her very first appointment with my usual vet, there's nothing wrong with her but I just want to establish a medical record with a vet in case Tandy needs one. (Fingers crossed she won't for a looong time, except for her regular rabies boosters of course.)

So Tandy gave me the scare of a lifetime last night - I took her to her very first appointment with my usual vet, and while she is vaccinated against the most important stuff I wanted her vaccinated against leptospirosis because she likes to hunt squirrels and even rats (she brought a rat home the other day that had been dead for quite a while - eeek!), and Bordetella because when I first adopted her she had a bit of kennel cough. Never again! (I was just hoping it wasn't some kind of chronic respiratory issue, thankfully that isn't the case.)

Anyhoo, she did not like the needle because I heard her squealing when she was getting vaccinated, and afterward she was really pooped out and probably a little sore. And as the hours went by and she was coming out of her daze she started giving me the side-eye, it looked like I had gotten on her shitlist! lol

I let her out in the middle of the night and didn't see her come back in, and then I couldn't find her for the life of me. I thought oh crap, maybe she escaped and will never come back! (We do have a fenced backyard, but still...) It was raining and I was running around the backyard with a flashlight like an ***, I could not find her and she wouldn't come when I called her. Well, turns out she was hiding under my bed the whole time - what a monumental relief! She was still a little cautious of me this morning but now we're on speaking terms again, crikes, she was hiding under my bed the WHOLE. FREAKING. TIME! 🤣

Vaccination aside the rest of her appointment checked out and she's healthy, but next month I have to go in for another leptospirosis booster. At least now I know what to expect from her after vaccination, a whole lot of side-eye!

Good news she's healthy and we had the same experience with our chap who came to us when he was 8 years old. He'd hide under the soffa most of the time to begin with, but after a while started using his bed. At least he does not bring home dead animals (sounds like what cats do!) :)

lol... Tandy has plenty of squeaky toys, but evidently playing with a dead rat seemed fun to her as well. So, in addition to being a Chihuahua and possibly some kind of terrier mix she might have some cat in her as well.

Do you have any latest pictures of your pooch? I don't want this to be just the Tandy thread, I'd love to see pictures of canines other posters own as well! :)

Little chap Max and his boomerang -

IMG-2600.jpg

Max says thanks for the kind sentiments and he's looking forward to his Christmas dinner ...:yum:
Merry Christmas to you and yours, and of course, Max!

And now a word from Tandy:

Hello Max, I'm Tandy, and this is my first real Xmas now that I'm no longer homeless. (Got my dog license in the mail the other day!) I haven't attacked the Xmas tree yet, but I did manage to startle my new owner by jumping up on the coffee table and sitting right next to the little Nativity Scene like a statue and acting like I was a part of it. Really freaked my owner out! 🤣 There will be good food so I'm looking forward to that, but I fear my new owner has lost her doggone mind and had gotten me another sweater for Xmas. (I've lived here for only a month and she had bought me three sweaters already, enough with the sweaters!)

Anyhoo, I hope you have a lovely and safe Xmas, and don't eat too much!

Paw-fives, Tandy

We've got used to homeless people and undesirables being shipped off before big sporting events, but now it's also stray dogs being put down -
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...head-FIFA-World-Cup-brutal-clean-streets.html
A top conservationist has condemned Morocco and urged FIFA to take action over the slaughter of three million street dogs ahead of the 2030 World Cup.

Campaigners claim that the animals could be killed in a brutal 'clean-up' operation to make cities more presentable to visiting football fans.

Reports suggest thousands of stray dogs have already been massacred in venues across the North African nation, with fears the killings are escalating.

You know how Tandy was bitching upthread about me getting her way too many sweaters lately? Well, she wasn't wrong. It's just so hard to find a sweater that will actually fit her body well being she's a mutt and her body is a little bit all over the place...

I realize she doesn't like any of the sweaters and she feels freer without them, but once she starts shivering cold in our weather maybe she'll understand why I got them for her.

Nice sweaters! :)
Yeah, we had the same problem with Max as he's a bichon plus lord knows what. It seems all dogs clothes are made in China to a standard pattern and sizes so it means either having to buy something and adjust it or make it yourself from scratch (we did get lucky with one jacket but that was it).

I finally got around to returning a couple of sweaters I had bought from Amazon before Xmas, they were just too small. Either they are too small or too big, out of the seven sweaters I had bought Tandy only the blue one I had posted a picture of upthread fits. At least I know the manufacturer, so if at any point I need to get another sweater I'll know where to get it.
