Good to hear about Toby and what a relief to get a reasonable price for the medicine. Insurance is a must for dog owners even in Europe as companies have no qualms about jacking up the prices.

I see Putin got a couple of Pungsan dogs from Kim whilst in North Korea. (https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/north-koreas-kim-gives-pair-dogs-putin-2024-06-20/ )

They look similar to other hunting dogs in Europe.

I like the dogs, the humans in this picture not so much.

Your dogs don't have chips or vaccines?

Your dogs don't have chips or vaccines?
Both dogs fully vaccinated and neither have chips. Roubaix has shots from everywhere!! Mexico, Argentina, Long Island and Hawaii!!
Max only has his vet records from Mexico. August 1st , US will only recognize US veterinary records and exclusively accept certification for microchips implants in the United States. There is a procedure, involving quarantine, from all animals that don't have American documents.. Sounds like a hassle, sounds like lots of room for government bureaucracy snafus!! No thanks.. Both pups will be getting some Merican stuff and we will be done with it!! New car has black interior, so the all day travel will probably require another day of cleaning dog hair and slobber off of everything!!

We saw lots of dogs during the Tour and now we have Beacon, the four-year-old golden retriever -

Beacon, an emotional support dog based in sunny Pasadena, California, was on hand earlier this summer to help calm the nerves of the athletes and coaches at the US Olympic trials in Minneapolis. Along with a selection of local canines, he was called upon to help soothe the passel of jittery aspirants before it was their turn to show their stuff. He stuck around to comfort the athletes who were not selected to compete in Paris. ... Beacon is just one of part of USA Gymnastics’ long-overdue mental health program. In addition to therapy pets, the initiative also includes mindfulness sessions and a team of therapists who are at the ready to work with athletes.

"I won for him." Rio the dog spurs on gold medal winner -
https://www.bbc.com/sport/olympics/articles/c20lmypk13lo
The Netherlands' Sharon van Rouwendaal dedicated her gold medal in the women's 10km marathon swim to her pet dog who died earlier this year.

Van Rouwendaal said her "world stopped" when her dog Rio, named after the Olympic gold she won in Brazil in 2016, died in May.

After emerging triumphant from the River Seine, Van Rouwendaal pointed to and kissed a tattoo of Rio's paw print on her wrist.

"He needed a little operation for his lungs so I gave it to him in the hope we could live in the Netherlands after the Olympics together in my house with a garden. He had complications after the surgery and he died," she explained.

"I was like, 'let's try it and I'll swim for him with my whole heart'. I did it, I won for him."

Happy 16th birthday, Tobster! 16 is a heckuva lot in dog years, or is it human years?

Honestly I wasn't sure how this summer would go and if Tobes would even make it through the summer, but the anti-seizure medication has just been a lifesaver, no seizures since he's been taking it. Vet and I think Toby may have sustained some neurological damage possibly during one of his seizures (back when he still got them) because he seems to have lost some feeling in one of his front paws, but, we're just gonna have to make it work with what's left. As long as Toby's appetite is good (and it is!) I'll just let that be my guide. For now...

Let's get into some trouble, Tobes! :shortcake: :hamburger::pizza::beercheers::sunglasses:

So I am not up to date on dog year calculator.. Are we still saying @7 :1 human year ratio? That makes Toby 112!! And he looks great!! George Burns looking good..

I've always heard the 7:1 ratio, but according to this AKC table Tobes might actually be only 87 and not 112! Whew, makes me feel a little better because I've been around 87yr. old humans and am familiar with their needs, but 112yrs. just doesn't compute.

Thanks for the link, I'll let Toby know he isn't actually as ancient as we thought he was! :D
