I’ve watched the video, it’s not even obvious he really made contact. No one around him reacts, the Fortuneo rider doesn’t react. Did other riders make any statements about it?
Trying to punch someone in the face is as bad as actually punching someone in the face, you don't get credit for being rubbish at fighting.

  My wife gets credit for being rubbish at fighting, otherwise I'd end up in hospital most times.

Sky released a standard press release.

Fortuneo say it was a punch (unless my French is really rubbish?), it clearly wasn’t a punch by any definition of the word. I’ve seen angry arm waving in people’s faces go unpunished before so I would like more information before I make my own mind up about it.
OK, all three sides are lying.

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen plenty of videos of people lashing out in races and never getting sanctioned. Just because he’s a scumbag doesn’t mean he should be treated differently with respect to the rules. I’m now looking for the Fortuneo statement.
I agree, but i think people should be kicked out for this so i can't feel much sympathy for him, if others get away with it that's the problem, not him being sanctioned (IMO).
Of course, but it’s not a punch, it’s angry arm waving. I have absolutely no sympathy for Moscon based on his past actions, but if they accept his punishments and allow him to race they can’t vilify him.

Does that even matter? I think not.
Yes.
And why exactly is that?
See my other posts. I could care less if Moscon gets banned by the way.

Sky need to show him the door- of all the climbers in the Team they chose this clown who has now left Sky with one less domestique in their biggest race. G and Froome are going to be really pissed off.

I mean he was most importantly a rouler on flat. His most important job has been done in first two weeks. The gaps are so big Sky doesn't need to chase breaks at all. Shouldn't effect them much.

Especially as there are effectively 3 stages left he would be help.

Workload still get bigger for the others and it is still a whole week left of controlling the race and a lot of flat km to cover. Rowe cant do that all on his own. One of castro and kwiat wont be there so far up these climbs anymore...

My guess would be most likely Castro over Kwiat for the flat/rolling terrain. Kwiat SHOULD be a bit better climber.

He definitely has an issue with anger control and ethics. Now there are multiple instances of him doing something bad. As was the case with Weinstein, i donot know how many such cases would be there against him in the junior and U23 ranks where there is no monitoring. If he continues like this he may end up in the clinic/banned/prison.

Grivko got a 45 day ban, but he actually made contact with Kittel getting a cut above the eye which was obviously worse

A one month ban from the UCI should be right, and I think Sky should get rid of him when his contract ends

Valgren says he was punched by Moscon in E3 last year but didn't think it was anything unusual as it was "in the heat of the moment".
Moscon is just a ***. He has been pretty bad in 2018, so i wouldn't be super surprised if he just gets cut - however, he is still a BIG talent, so I assume Sky will let everyone forget about it. Because as Brian Nygaard said when discussing him earlier in the Tour on one of the stages and Im paraphrasing: "When will the witch hunt stop, lets just forget about it now and look forward". Or something like that.

Here's a better video from the incident than the one originally posted. Unsurprisingly, it looks worse in full speed.

This guy has one hell of a short fuse. The shoulder contact from Gesbert was completely harmless.

Edit: I think Moscon touched Gesbert's helmet, as you can see Gesbert adjusting it two seconds after the swing.
There must have been something before? Nobody gets that angry over an accidental shoulder rub!

Loads of other riders in close proximity. Why hasn't anything been said from them? Omerta is still strong eh?

You're kidding. Why should anyone outside Gesbert/Fortuneo get involved in this? Jury saw the images and kicked him out, end of story. It's not like they're calling for witnesses.

Wiggins said today that SKY and Brailsford dont care about being popular they only care about wining
So I guess Moscon is going no where
