Foss somehow saved his season with this WC title. It‘s a little bit like Jean Nuttli, winning Chrono des Nations and beating the best time trialists of the world on this day.

He (Foss) now has already an impressive palmares: Tour de l‘Avenir, WC in ITT, 9th in Giro GC. Of course happy for the man, but he‘s not (yet) Roglic.

Foss‘ title today comes in a row with Bert Grabsch‘s ITT WC title, or Jean Nuttli‘s Chrono des Nations victories - IMHO… :)

Apart from Van Aert not participating, I see absolutely no signs that the WCTT is getting less prestigious.

Yeah, I think for a very long time it has been at about the same level of prestige, the tier of the most important races that aren’t in the real “big 9”. It’s like winning Amstel or something.

What is Foss realistically - 30th or something? I'd probably go lower but big wins nah nah nah, since the guy has done absolute fuckall the whole year.
Literally nobody of the Big Win Cult puts WC ITT in there.

I'd put it around Amstel/GW level probably.

It's the point where comparing results becomes super convoluted.

And no I would not have him in top 30 probably, but I am not gonna make a list.

Foss - sensational champion! WTF? The way he overturned his deficit over Kung in the last 10 km was unexpected, the Swiss weakened there a bit and lost the gold by inches. Very strong podium, Remco also close to the champion, the form is still there but maybe Vuelta fatigue was a factor (I think he targeted the TT here and the RR will be more difficult for him). Ganna veeery disappointing! Bad luck for Hayter (he was fighting for the podium) and Sheffield. Teddy with solid 6th place but way off the podium, his main target is the RR though.

Foss is a worthy winner. Bit surprised, but yeah, possible. Hutch told it well in Eurosport live commentry how this course is not about FTP only but w' too as there was lotsa turns and accelerations. Lower avg power and 50 accelerations works well.

Foss also described well thought best splits plan imho.

People rooting something like Bisseger as a tt specialist, this Foss man actually been ahead him about all of his career resultswise. And last two years in the heels of top guys or ahead of them.

He's now the real deal officially.

I found it interesting.
Yeah, this is the thing. The WCTT is usually about the most predictable race of the season. There are normally about 2 or 3 guys who you could see winning and one of those almost always takes it.

Carl-Fredrik Bevort sets a time that will last in this time trial. 1st of 4 waves the commentators said.

P.S. Here in the Pacific time Zone I will be able to stay up till 1230am or so when it finishes and I don't have to be up early so lucky for me.

Leenert Eetvelt almost a minute down on Bevort.

Update Leo Hayter in the 2nd wave.

Update 2 Leo Hayter beats 1st Int. Up almost 8 seconds.

Leo about to avenge his brother's disappointment from yesterday?
Or ensure he'll be the one having bragging rights in the family?
