Would you give a reason? As I recall it it was a very disappointing edition considering the freezing conditions that had prompted some hype, but there was a headwind which made everything apathetic even over the Roche-aux-Faucons?

Not a race I expected to gain a lot heals.

(Or does it only have to do with Albasini not winning?)

I remember the run-in quite fondly, although it might be exaggerated a bit as the forum perhaps overstated the excitement because it was official forum mascot Carlos Betancur making many of the speculative moves, and have blanked on a large portion of the rest of the race. Bit of a swansong result for Samu Sánchez. Marc Antony principle regarding Albasini being beaten at the last.

I think it's clearly in the lower half of Liège editions, but I'd need to read up on the summaries or watch the finales again to adjudicate its exact ranking. On page 1, I have it in 8th, but it could easily have been 6th.

I honestly remember it as possibly the worst LBL edition of the decade. The first relevant move of that entire race didn't just come after RaF but even after Saint Nicolas as everyone was waiting for that cobbles ramp they only raced in that single edition. I don't know, I just felt insulted by the fact that no single real contender gave it a go at least at that point. That's what stuck with me.

The 2016 LBL was run in near freezing conditions, so its no surprise the riders were conservative - That and the 2013 MSR were held in shocking conditions.
