I've heard Lefevere is building a new team around Patrik Sinkewitz. Maybe they'll sign Jegat, Schiffer and Sainbayar?

I know they wanted to hire Girmay, but he was too blind to sign the contract.
Lefevere, unlike SRF does not care about the person behind the watts, only about if they do well at the World Championships or not (which is good if they are Belgian, otherwise it‘s bad) and their contract situations. He has failed to ascend to the same level of enlightenment as SRF.

Best French CT rider of 2023, still without (WT) contract for 2024, surprisingly:

It's not official, but he's rumoured to have signed for Total.

I agree

Victor Lafay will join Ag2R on from next season. Cofidis offered 1.5 million Euro a year to keep him, but he preferred to return to his "home team".

According to the article, Ag2r's initial offer before the Tour was 400k, which he was okay with as well. Now it's above one million

Do we know the salary of comparable riders? How much does Cosnefroy make?

Interesting. So there's a team here that in the past has overpaid sprinters with 1.5M left in the bank and there's an unhappy sprinter that can leave a team somewhere else...

Also 1.5M for Lafay is ridiculous, but this was to be expected. Lafay is super hit and miss, honestly Ewan would be better value (pointswise atleast).

I get that AG2R has money to throw around with GVA gone but Bennett and then Lafay for 1.5M, I don't know man.

I was wondering the same. Van Avermaet was reported to be in the same range, I think, but no idea about Cosnefroy.

The article mentions that van Rysel is likely to replace Citroen as a name sponsor for 2024, so maybe this comes with another budget boost. Initially Citroen was reported to be on board for five years.

Stop inventing extra Bennetts!

Extra (white) Benett already exists.

French leaders on French teams are heavily overpaid. IMO this is a big part of why the French haven't had a Tour winner in about 400 years. French teams are always behind the curve and they waste their top riders and talents there because they're comfortable and overpaid compared to their accomplishments. It's no surprise the best French rider this century didn't come through a French team.

You only have to watch stage 1 of the Tour to see that Lafay can be writh 1M+ as he was attacking Vingegaard and Pog while everyone else was dropped. From what I understand though, his professionalism is really bad and he's rumored to have a bit of rock star lifestyle which also meant he was pretty much partying through the Tour after his stage win.

Lafay actually could be decently worth the money given Cofidis riders tend to underperform. Even if Lafay isn't going to rise up like Laporte.

Cosnefroy should be on a similar salary and his season has been awful really. Since getting wrong directed at Grand Prix Marseillaise his shape has been really poor in most hilly races he targets. Especially at the Tour de France his climbing skills were horrible. I would have send Cosnefroy to the Giro d'Italia normally, where with his skillset and good shape he should've chances to grab some stages from either the breakaway or an uphill sprint. But Cosnefroy rides the Tour de France instead and is a non-show.

So all in all. Throwing that much salary money at Lafay, Cosnefroy and especially Bennett just screams money burning. Especially from a team that both in the Bardet and certainly in the Kirsipuu era was considered being wise with spending.

Fabio Jakobsen was up for grab. If you wanted to seriously become a sprint team again, because that's a niche currently not taken by the big teams apart from Alpecin anymore you just could have approached him.
